What's with you guys and this "entitlement"? I'm just stating my point of view and by the looks of it I'm not the only one. I couldn't care less about this project since I own a GW card, but even if I did I wouldn't be writing this here because as I said - there are actual working region free CFW's already. And guess what? The devs there aren't smug nor sarcastic but rather very friendly. ;)
I have yet to see any of these guys act smug. And if you own a GW and don't care about this project, why bother posting here? (I seriously don't understand is all)

It's funny that the demo of Puzzle and dragons has a new crypto while the full game hasn't!
well they probably just re/built the demo just before it went live, whereas the carts where already manufactured before the release of 9.6, what FW update is built into the cart? no more than 9.4 i guess

Did the American version's cartridge leak or something? I mean, the release date is May 22...
I think the Euro version is already out. The scene release was actually quite a bit earlier.
That must be what daz is talking about.

Yep i have the EUR version working fine on my n3ds via sky3ds on 9.2.0 via NTR cfw. :)
Seems it requires (apparently) 9.5 because it refuses to boot in sysnand without NTR (has 9.5 update in the rom too).

It's because the new crypto is eshop-only -- it's to enable the new pre-release feature where you can download a title ahead of time but can't play it until release-date.
so what is really stopping us from decrypting it/playing it early?
it has to connect to the internet each time to see if the current date is 'good' yet?

New crypto works as follows:

-New KeyY = First 0x10 bytes of SHA256(OldKeyY + Title-Unique Seed)

Title-Unique Seeds for titles you've downloaded are stored in a savedata in NAND -- when you pre-download a game, you download the NCCH but not the Seed (because the seed isn't released yet), so you can't play the game even though you downloaded it.

I think this also means you can't play games that use the new crypto if you install them via .cia, because the .cia won't store the seed in nand. I could be wrong about that, though.

sure, it's a very possible homebrew idea :)
i'm not interested in making it myself, but if someone is, it shouldn't be very difficult.
it's just downloading files from the internet.
ah - it would have to build them into CIAs though...
no reason why make_cdn_cia could not be built into the 3ds homebrew application though
