I have an idea for a name! "NimdaCFW"

Nimda is "Admin" spelt backwards. Nimda was a Windows virus that was a pain in the ass to remove and was quite common back in the days of Windows 95/XP.

The sheer fact that it means "Admin" should make the name appropriate, in my opinion, as the project is "Kernal Access", meaning " Control", just like an Admin has control.

So yeah - NimdaCFW, an awesome old school virus name (not saying that KARL's a virus).

I personally aren't that bothered about the open soure and I like both projects. They both have KA in their name, for Kernal Access so...

Honestly, the kernel-access portion of our project being done and public means that it doesn't really need to be a part of the name any more. Having ARM9 access is the norm, it's what you make on it that matters.

First episode of "So you think You Can Code?" goes like this, I installed devkitpro, threw the bigredmenu source into the payload example and it didn't compile. Turns out coding is a little more than just copy&paste ... sadly. And now I'm watching Bloodline on Netflix. Pretty good show.

I tried replacing bootstaps payload.bin with payload.bin files I found with google but surprisingly that didn't work.

Why not ONIMDA(for open-source nimda(oska)) and ANIMDA(for anti-piracy nimda(KARL3DS))

I'd go with a name that just confused things and made things more annoying to talk about.

For instance, if you called it First3ds CFW.

Or:
'NEW'3ds CFW
Not A CFW
O3DS CFW
PIRATE CFW

Just generally something really misleading.

I'd probably go with calling it Pirate, since it'd peeve more people off.


But I do agree with the name change idea and I think all suggestions, including my own, so far are bad and should not be used.

Because those working on this project hate it? They inherited it, let them choose one that they are all happy with.

Open source doesn't mean shit if there's nobody with the knowledge and skill to take advantage of it.

The fact is the primary OSKA dev is flying solo. He's made multiple posts in this thread begging the KARL devs to make more of their code available to him.

At the moment he's riding the coat tails of the KARL crew, and will continue to do so if he can't get some skilled devs working with him on OSKA.
