Oh on a side note. When rebuilding the romfs for the jp special edition, do I have to put the files back to their original location within the romfs for them to load properly? Since I moved them around in the randomizer.
Yes, they need to be back to to their original location. I assume you're using HANS?

This tool sounds unfathomably awesome. Out of curiosity, you said it may be a possible future feature to randomize children, yes? would that be just randomizing what couple has which children, or would the randomization include the number of children as well? and now I think about it, could you do something like allowing Corrin, regardless of gender, to have both male AND female Kana? I kinda sorta really don't like the fact that I can only choose Kana's gender by choosing my own. I'd love to be able to have both Kanas, or be allowed my choice in the matter. I know this "child randomization" feature is only a possibility, but it'd still be freakin' awesome to have it.

I'm fairly certain I moved them back correctly.. However I still crash going into character creation and such. Could someone take a look at my files? https://www.mediafire.com/?mn9ypw2xb5owyb9
I didn't test the text files because the file names got corrupted on my end, but everything else ran fine in game. Looking at the text files, it looks like m/GameData.txt and m/GMap.txt were never compressed back into .bin.lz form. Running them through FEAT again fixed the issue. I'll go ahead and include the recompressed versions below if you want to try adding those to your patch.

I'd go ahead and add those back in and see how things run. If you removed those files from a romfs before modifying them, then the crash likely occurred because the game couldn't find them in the modified romfs. If that's the case, then using the recompressed files should fix the issues.

I was planning to swap around which child is assigned to which parent. Tying multiple children to the same parent could be done, but I'd rather not mess with that right now. If you want to get both Kanas though, I think that @DeathChaos25 put together a patch which gives you both of them at the end of Paralogue 2.

So you were able to see the randomizer changes in game? I just ran the two files through FEAT again and remade my romfs. I'm still getting a crash however... What tools do you use to rebuild the romfs I might be doing that process wrong?

I use NTR so that I don't need to go through the process of rebuilding a romfs. The changes showed up in game for me, so the files themselves are fine. Back when I ran hacks through HANS, I used @SciresM's tool, romfs builder, as it supports the Japanese file names.

Ah I saw the NTR method. I would much rather do that than rebuilding a romfs every time.. I have NTR but couldn't get a way for it to work? I think it was layerdsf or something right?

Yeah, the Gay Fates hack has NTR plugins for Fates (not sure about the Japanese version though). You can take the NTR plugin from that hack and use it for any sort of Fates hacks you want. And if you're having issues getting NTR to work on your 3DS, you could try this version which supports later firmwares.

Thanks. NTR itself works just fine, and I've used it for streaming from my 3DS to my Laptop. I'll try out this plugin in a bit.

I'm having difficulties with Conquest Chapter 14's intro cutscene. I replaced the files, but it doesn't seem to work. There appears to be only one intro file called OP_2; this is especially strange, given how segmented the intro to Chapter 14 is. Perhaps the other OP files (Azura's CG in particular; the game crashes specifically after that part so I suspect that may be the offending file) are stored elsewhere? I'll try outright deleting the files next, though I doubt that'll do much.
Help?

It looks like all of the other pre-chapter scenes are handled through the map script itself. I'd check if removing/replacing that script fixes the issue.

Quick question: Would that be the B014_Terrain file in the root of the Scripts directory, or the B014 file in the B folder?

No dice, unfortunately. The game still crashes after the Azura cutscene even when I replaced the map file.
Only other suggestion I can give you right now is replacing the dispo file under GameData/Dispos/B014.bin, as that's the only other file that could cause you crashes on that map to my knowledge.

How are the amiibo units & Anna obtained with this? For example, I have Subaki taking Ike's spot (recruited in M002), Peri replacing Lucina (M004), Beruka replacing Anna (Chapter: Unavailable), Marth replacing himself (M001), and Shura replacing Robin (M003)? (I avoided using the Gay Fates's castle_join.bin.lz because I read where it had issues with this).

Mozu is still not randomized.

Also, I don't know if it's just me but this is not working on my game at all. I followed the directions in the readme, moved the files to my SD card, started NTR and the game (I do get the green flash and I'm using Gay Fates v5.0's layeredfs.plg), yet nothing is randomized. Starting a new save does nothing. Previously, the characters in the prologue were randomized to their proper characters, but now it's the standard characters and classes. I've tried multiple times now. I get the output .txt file saying which characters replaced who, but it's just not working in-game.

Has that changed or is something wrong with my files or am I doing something wrong?

Turns out it was the .plg file. My computer made a file called ._layeredfs.plg and I accidentally deleted the actual layeredfs.plg file instead of the ._layeredfs.plg. It's working properly now.

Just my notices:
-Leo's model in Chapter 1 (after you battle Xander) hasn't been changed. In fact, his model never moves (maybe only to turn his head?). After Camilla and Elise show up, that's when Leo changes into his replacement.
-Oddly enough, Flora got replaced by Felicia.
-Chapter 2 had Leo replacing Jakob in the battle against Rinkah and Kaze, but when it was his turn to talk, Leo's voice didn't sound like it does when someone new talks, but this was only right after Gunter's replacement finished talking at first.
-Chapter 4 still has the Sakura glitch. All talking is her replacement, but her sprites/battle model is all still Sakura. Could it be because her replacement is not a Shrine Maiden/healer? I also can't trade items with Rinkah or Kaze's replacements. Hinoka's model is still Hinoka (instead of her replacement) in the scene where you talk to her and Sakura after battle, but again, all talking was her replacement (Hana, in this case).
-Some models (Takumi's and Sakura's) aren't fully replaced with their replacements.
-Units in Wolfskin/Kitsune classes are silent during crits.
-Rev Chapter 6 still has Ryoma and Xander as themselves rather than their replacements after battle (in which you, Azura, and Jakob/Felicia flee).
-Jakob's after battle model hasn't been replaced nor has it been replaced when Lilith shows up again.

That's because that part uses a specific model that is different from Leon's regular model. It uses the "your cape is inside out" model, which is specific to that scene only.
That's why in that part the model always remains Leon.

Yeah I know why, but still. xD Dammit Leo and your inside out cape making randomizing difficult. xD
