I have two other setups with Windows 11. BUT this setup is so good. But it's stuck with Windows 10 because of TPM—Windows 10 with two other Linux distros on it. I mainly use the Windows part to test homebrew software quickly. has loads of my copyrighted "data" backups. has loads of data which I can use quickly when needed. Not every software has a Linux version. Set up like how I like it.

I have a few things in mind and what to do.
  • Just delete the partition, expand the Linux setups.
  • Keep it as it is for now.
  • Force Windows 11 on it by other means.
  • Maybe install React OS on it

What do you plan to do with your Windows 10 setup after end of life?
 
There is Windows 10 ESU. You can continue using you existing installation (assuming 22H2) for another three years. It is expensive though.

That is unless you resort to other means like that script on Microsoft servers (GitHub) that can activate Windows including ESU access if I remember correctly.


You could also bypass the need for TPM 2.0 and switch to Windows 11. There are even versions (IOT) that officially do not require TPM.

Maybe several Windows versions in virtual machines are an option?

Since I'm using Windows mainly in VMs anyway and mainly versions out of support (and offline) I never cared much for end of life dates. :)

I'm keeping Windows 10 in my Notebook for two reasons:
1- Can't install Windows 7 because of BIOS settings (I've tried everything).
2- Access to Microsoft Defender.

I really don't need Windows 11, as I use my phone for Internet Browsing+Download+Upload, and Windows 10 for scanning files. ¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯

Don't have one anymore - never liked an OS that (along other more significant deficiencies) could only show 3 colors on screen at once (light black + white + accent color) and gets in your way unless you use an enterprise version you're not supposed to get and change 7+* "group policies"

* talking about LTSB/C of course, make that closer to 20 for regular enterprise/education with preinstalled crapps

The answer is, anyway, stick with it - no updates doesn't mean it will stop working, in fact it means (or so we are supposed to believe) they will stop fucking it up more with every major version, when my necessities haven't particularly changed in the last 15 years

I've put arch-linux on my old hardware that are lacking win11 requirements, which works fine for generic use like light gaming, emulation and media consumption. I'll just keep my steam library and productive apps on my main rig running win11

I had MSI laptop for gaming have Windows 10. I will keep using Windows 10 after EOL few years later. My old HP desktop have Windows 7 and still working on internet without issues. I will going to use Linux when internet get broke on Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Just use VMware WorkStation program to running different operating system on same computer without change operating system. This will save our troubles and lot of hassles like problems due to missing drivers, not support due to outdated BIOS and go on. There are no perfect for these.

Because Microsoft company want to force us and people to buy new computers with Windows 11 which are very annoy to us. Bloatware, bad Windows updates, slow down, crash and go on. I get tired about annoy habits by Microsoft. That's terrible about Microsoft company want our and people money. :unsure:

Parents old pc will be switched over to extended support.

For me I'll switch tpm on and go to 11 once my hand is forced. I play online and some anti-cheats need tpm on once you are on 11.

I don't get it. MS owns Github. A place where it's easy to get these activation scripts for MS products. Even when secure storage was cracked, they didn't stop the activation scripts and bypasses from appearing on Github. Secure storage being cracked should have made MS stop (by removal) whatever scripts or bypasses from appearing or being downloaded from Github but they didn't and still don't :wacko:.

Everyone, but especially companies with a dominant position, knows "piracy" (never mind that Win10+ are functionally shareware that can be used without ever activating) helps amateurs get used to their business software and reinforce their dominance (and, nowadays and particularly in this specific case, collecting "analytics" and advertising their cloud crap)

I was looking for a picture of the taskbar, but yeah, the whole stock (and only official) theme, booooring

I'll begrudgingly downgrade to windows 11 with a ton of tweaks and extra software/mods to de-11ify it, I tried Linux many times since the beginning of June and every single time resulted in a system that crashes multiple times a day with multiple different types of errors, all the kind that nobody else on the Internet have had and are impossible to diagnose. like my screens freezing but the system staying completely responsive, or just getting completely random fatal errors while waking up my PC from sleep, or just completely out of nowhere while watching YouTube +playing a light game

i honestly prefer the handheld version for my steam deck mainly cause steam os prepartitions stuff like /var (default location for flatpaks) at like 4GB Cachyos just does 2-3 partitions boot root and swap and var is a folder not a partition

Since CachyOS isn't a immutable OS it need more space most likely
