One of the things that make me worry is, is zelda franchise destined to a life of ports and remakes?
Zelda OOT had a port for Gamecube and a remake for 3DS.
Miyamoto already showed interest in remaking Majora's Mask and A Link to the Past for 3DS.
And now we see a remake of Wind Waker for WiiU.

Remakes are good, but everything in excess is bad.
Just look at Square and how many times FFIV got remakes.
I just hope remakes doesn't become a tendency on Nintendo franchises.

Miyamoto never said anything about remaking aLttP. He said he was interested in doing something RELATED to aLttP. That could mean anything: Sequel, prequel, remake, etc.

And unless I'm mistaken, all that was said about Majora's Mask was that they've heard the fans' cries, and hope to respond sometime "in the future"

wind waker + HD + wiimote and gamepad support? = SOLD!

hopefully they'll make it so you can do the tingle sidequest with the gamepad instead of needing the gay gba like in the gbc version which i never got to do.

Probably... I doubt they'll require you to use the GBA, which doesn't even have an adapter to fit into the Wii U. ;)

And what do you mean wiimote support? I didn't hear them say anything about that...

no no i meant in the gbc you had to use the gba in the wiiu version if it's still in there it should use the gamepad.

And what do you mean wiimote support?
wiimote support for sword swinging and bow etc

Am I the only who thinks that the color palette is a bit too bright or that something's off with the lighting? It just looks too plastic-like. IDK :/
That's kinda' what the original game meant to look like too? :P

I love wind waker but this HD version is kinda pointless the original game looks fine nowadays it holds up well it hasn't been long enough since it was released. They should be doing more remakes from the N64 PS1 days those games DO NOT hold up graphically now.

The way I'm seeing this, is to get a whole new generation of people to try Wind Waker, like I said, and Iwata, the game didn't sell the greatest because of the low install base on the GC, and most people were stupid and wrote it off because of the cartoonish graphics.

Who's to say people won't be stupid this time around and write it off again? its still got the same cell style graphics..i dunno. Either way i wont be buying this until its real cheap not because i dont love this game just because i just beat the original like 2 months ago and it felt fine lol.

Can't wait to do all that sailing in HD, wheee! Can't wait to play a game that's in a series which is supposed to be relatively mature considering the previous installments (which perhaps were slightly cartoonish, but only due to technical limitations) with their relatively mature theming, woo-hoo! Let the tedious search for items begin!

Wind Waker is a great Zelda game in the sense of giving the player time to go to the kitchen, brew him/herself a coffee, do the washing up, the laundry, go out, have a drink, eat dinner with friends and watch a movie before you get from point A to point B, mainly because the sea poses zero threat whatsoever.

Yup, great design. Best Zelda ever. Surely better than A Link to the Past which is superior to it in every way! B-) </Not a Wind Waker fan, never been interested in it, heard bad things about it from people who are actually looking at it objectively rather than jerking off to it "because it's Zelda!">

The long sailing is only for the first few hours of the beginning, then traveling happens really fast.

That doesn't make it any more tedious though and it doesn't fix the inheritent problems with theming and the overall artwork design. Previous LoZ games were pretty freaking dark, all things considered. This isn't dark. This is weird and stands out like a sore thumb.

I get that it's an experiment, great, but that makes the title's "greatness" quite debatable. Passing it as "the greatest LoZ ever" is a bit of a stretch. I mean, I'd take TP over WW anytime, and I don't even like TP all that much, the only reason being that TP actually fits the overall mythos wheras WW... doesn't. For a myriad of reasons.

But then again, it's all a matter of tastes, I suppose. If you treat every LoZ title as a separate adventure unless direct connections are drawn on purpose (like every normal human being), disregarding the timeline and just taking WW for what it is, it's alright to "like" it.

...So what you're trying to say, is you are one of the dumb people who passed on the game because it looked like a cartoon? Right, this discussion is over.
