Will the metaverse replace the need for physical travel?

Hello,

Will the metaverse (Not just Facebook Metaverse) totally or significantly replace the need for physical travel in the real world? Whether it would be travelling a short distance within a city, a road trip across a country or an overseas trip.

I am talking mostly about travelling for leisure not for work or essential purposes i.e travelling to a hospital for a medical appointment

Also referring to the metaverse itself, not Neuralink, Brain Implants etc.
