Seriously, the Switch just LACKS ability to communicate with people. There's no messaging system for friends, VC is not built-in, and literally the only good way of communication is MM2's comment system.
So, will Miiverse ever come back? I want the Switch to have more life, since we have no themes and the main menu/eShop both do not even have music, unlike Miiverse.

Also, all tries to revive Miiverse through clones have failed. All have been discontinued. If there is a still working, popular Miiverse clone, lemme know.

So, will Miiverse come back or will Nintendo just completely ignore the fact that the Switch lacks any sort of communication features?

As far as I can tell, they don't care anymore. Miiverse was truly awesome, a great experience that I would like to have once again, but to be honest, Nintendo nowadays is acting very weird. I mean, they always had, but they launched more user friendly apps like that or more awesome packs of games. Now, if the don't even care about the Switch's menu interface, I really, really doubt they will do something like that.

Anything can happen tho, but don't keep your hopes high.

I just wish that Nintendo just didn't choose to go with minimalism, and OVERDO it. The whole menu is lacking some features that earlier consoles had and that are granted on Xbox/PS. If Nintendo wants to be a better competitor, they should just not go with making the firmware as barebones as possible and not adding integral content even after 4 years of the console's success and the firmware already being on version 11.0.

Do I need to call an ambulance? Did you fall and hit your head? If not be careful as that is the kind of gibberish that gets a guy put in the nut house.

More seriously. I doubt Nintendo has the desire to run a communications platform and deal with the dramas, traumas and headaches (read cost, cost and cost) of such a thing, not least of all when a great deal of its users are minors or effectively so for many purposes of online things.

personally, i wish that miiverse would make a return. realistically, i dont think its ever coming back. but seriously nintendo, at least add the ability to message people on your friends list!

Whoa, easy there, cowboy. If you did not enjoyed Miiverse I'm sorry, I know I did. You should learn to respect the opinion of others before throwing shit.

They absolutely *can* moderate posts and things like that. MM2 has a lot of levels that are like "My girlfriend left me" or levels that are meant to just give a message and not be playable. Plus, each level has comments. Anyone can post anything in the comments, and I have already seen a lot of boxes that said "This comment has been deleted." in the comment sections of especially "refreshing" levels. And they actively remove posts and sometimes even ban you.

I never used it much, but the times I did I found it to be a fun diversion, choc full of creativity and random comedy.

Can't see Nintendo ever bringing it back in the same form it used to exist in - they're too scared of it being used by kiddie fiddlers to groom their prey.

Miiverse isn't coming back. It was constantly abused by people posting offensive drawings, and later by using a hacked console to post lewd "screenshots" etc. Nintendo is supposed to be family friendly so for them it was unacceptable if any of them made it through and were seen by kids.
I miss having a messaging system for friends though.

The MM2 comments system is literally Miiverse but for only 1 game and the levels being the "communities". People post offensive drawings all the time and Nintendo bans them from the whole game for that. I can't see the problem with it being console-wide.

I'm sure that's not going to last long either, it'll end up removed.

I think if they were to make a messaging app, it better be DM's only. You could tell it was just a social media for kids. I just hope those freaks don't start making clones of it.

No, Miiverse is the reason there were no Mii games during the 2017- 2020 period

the switch is lacking in a lot of areas, at least when it comes to system software features. like I've mentioned before, I think Nintendo wanted this minimalist approach, at least that's what they've said in the past. it's just meant to play games and that's pretty much it.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

here's that link: https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2...200_kb_of_resources_for_super-fast_load_times

it talks a bit about different things like why there's no music in the home menu. it's all to make games load faster. it's not the entire OS, but I think this minimalist approach is deliberate. I also wish it had more features even if it was at the price of loading or something.
