So I have the WiiU Splatoon plus SSB combo that came on 5.4. I connected it to the internet and typed in a special DNS that supposedly stops updates, also I have automatic updates disabled. However after turning off my consol it started updating like WTF Nintendo. I guess they added that setting as a fucking gimic. So am I screwed with this new firmware? I know there was an exploit for 5.4 that was private. Is 5.5.0U exploit just as close? I knew I shouldn't have connected to the internet.................

That's fine. Hykem is aiming to release his IOSU exploit on Christmas. All you have to do is wait and make sure to keep your system offline.

Did you turn off standby function? Tubehax DNS is blocking my 5.3.2 Wii U flawless.

OOH I see, you were using OpenDNS. It's risky if you have a dynamic IP (Constantly changing IP). But with Tubehax DNS you'll be safe.

Yeah I do have a dynamic ip. :/ Alright I just changed it to your's. Since I'm on 5.5 I might as well play online. Does this DNS block me from doing so?

This DNS is the main one everyone uses, it's even recommended on the Definitive Wii U hacking thread. It's keeping my 5.3.2 Wii U alive! I have a static IP, I heard Tubehax DNS works good for Dynamic too.

Yep you can play online, only Youtube is blocked by this. ANd updates

Nope because I have a dynamic IP so it's kinda useless...

I accidentally enabled updates when I turned the internet on thinking it was asking something else... yeah I'm stupid.

    oh ok
    tho its not recommended
i do know some users are using open dns with no problems as long as you disable updates and quick launch

Well idk they might have static ip's. Because even if I use OpenDNS when one day my ip changes(usually every couple days) all of that blocking would be for nothing...

well there is the desktop OpenDNS updater app (this this can lead to a update window of opportunity should you forget to start your PC or dont have it on 24/7 or even if you do there is still a small window of upto 30 mins with the 15mins update delay time on the app and upto 15 mins for IP changes to take effect server side, although in most cases it would be less than that, but still its like saying i am happy with wearing my body armor across 92% of the battlefield rather than 100%), but generally unless you really want/need OpenDNS for some specific reason and know of all the shortfalls i wouldn't advise anyone to use openDNS

Also I didn't even know how to use it because in the video he access's a web filtering page, and on the OpenDNS website I can't seem to find it anymore.
