This is not a morality issue, and these guys are not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They have other products on the market that they want to sell, and they know that good reputation is hard to maintain, with people realizing how slow they are and other competitive chips coming out all the time. They are trying to make up for dropping the ball by adding a dev mode and an update blocker, but what they really should have done was enable DL support a month ago and worry about the rest later.

I dont remember getting a warranty or service contract from anyone when buying my wiikey...
ITS A FUCKING MODCHIP! not a TV set or a CPU!
Stop being their bussiness/market advisor and decide what they should or should not do!

There's a reason that among all the 'other competitive chips coming out all the time' wiikey still stays strong.

So just stuff it and quit whining!

You bought a piracy product from a chinese geeks team, not SONY or whatever...

So just be grateful that you're getting even that!

@lombers: dude, I totally back you up. I'm already very tired reading people complaining for support, or they're not fast enough, etc.

I agree, it should have been faster though. So now I'm happy with my copy of Brawl are sealed in my collection case while the backups are happy in my Wii (that... doesn't sound right

) until the updates rolls out

Grateful? I could have bought a YAOSM (programmer, PIC) for much less than a Wiikey. I paid Wiikey team money, they should at least update their chip and fix MAJOR problems.

Warranty contract or not, I expect product support from the Wiikey team. The chip is perfectly capable of these things.

If Wiikey team are so slow with updates, why don't they just make a one-way DVD upgrade to Openwii and get it over with?

So why didnt you buy yaosm? that way you could only blame yourself for not being happy...

I see all this modchip market in a very gray light... because basicly its not really a product... and wiikey is not a company..

It's something that you should easily expect to become obsolete... and then who will you blame?

Will you blame wiikey team because nintendo will come with a way to fry you chip and maybe your console?

modchips come with no promises or warranties of any kind. you buy it and install it on your own risk.

so quit bitching about not getting product support! because you dont deserve any!

you want product support and warranties? use a legit wii and buy all your games!

They are a real company, with a real bank account, and real profits. And they know that if they continue to fuck up, the money will stop rolling in. Chinese geeks or not, they love their fucking money, and that's the only reason they're working on this update.

Oh, and do you know why they asked the modchip stores not to leak the "beta"? Because they want a little buzz generated, that's all. The update will be leaked within 24 hours.

P.S. I can't wait for this fucking drama to be repeated with Mario Kart.

oh really?

man, i thought it was for cookies...

that's how my job pays me...

WHATS YOUR POINT?!

ofcourse they want wiikey to keep selling... what other reasons you had in mind?

prevent global warming?

as i said, they owe YOU shit!

you're not happy with the timing? buy yaosm/openwii or whatever and as far as i care code your own updates if you're so smart and talanted!

hell maybe you could start your own modchip brand.. heh.

No ass on the update screen? Alright!
A very odd moment for me.

My dad and I just finish up soldering the wiikey into place, go upstairs and put in the 1.9g boot disc. First we jump up and down for a second just to lay off some stress, and my dad goes out side to smoke a cigarette. I wait for him, because he was as much a part of this as I was. So here we are with the Gamecube logo on the screen, with my dad, stepmom and stepbrother all sitting around the 50" plasma. waiting to see whats next.

BAM
A giant ass pops up on the screen, and everyone looks at me like "You did all that hard work for this?!"

What does the Dump means? I still do not get it.

It is cool to have blocking updates and it seem like another PSP thing: Dev. heh..

It is nice to see Wiikey team is working on it. It is always better then none. Waiting patiently for the release.

A dump is the raw data or image of a disk. google "disk dump" and you'll understand.

Block updates sounds interesting. Atleast if it works. I don't really care about getting retail brawl working.
