As it happens yes, The majority of my games are shop bought and new. When I do download a game that I want before its retail release I use newsgroups. Which again I pay for. Ive not issue with buying anything. Im not hear to argue with anyone. In actual fact I try to be as helpfull as I can and when I can. If people want their games and covers free thats fine, Its a privilage not a right.

I also pay for newsgroups, but if I had to pay for every individual download, I would think twice about doing it, my point is other sites let people download these covers for free and I'm sure more will too now that all the covers are out there, now no site should have monopoly, people in any day and age will never pay for something they can get for free elsewhere, but that said people also like to reward those who go the extra mile to help or spent alot of time working on something that they use and like, in those cases people will donate, now site was complaining about bandwidth issues but then allowed users to download the entire collection of covers, now If I had a site and I had usage issues I would limit people download 5 covers a day and for most people that's enough.

most people only download one or two games a day and add them to the hard drive.

now if you then take the USB loader that had the ability to download the covers for free, one of it's attractions, and change it forcing people to donate before they can download a cover using the loader, and right now another loader does the very same thing for free, it seems to me the that advertising on the site would easily cover the costs, if they put limitations on instead of allowing people to download the entire contect of the site.

but instead they have chose to charge people for this, and again it's each person's choice if they want to pay but given the choice between one that you need to pay for and one that's free, i know what one they would choose.

I like the site and like the USB loader but I think limitations are require more than charging members, even more so taking into account the site could be shut down at any point.

just my opinion.

Well I just registered here to post my opinion on the matter. Alot of folks have complained about Coverfloader being free. Unfortunatly the Boxart has nothing to do with them. Many are donating to WIIboxart to get there covers because they feel they have no other choice. Covers have always been free somewhere. Just realize you are donating to wiiboxart because of missmanagment and inexperience running a site like that.

Blah, blah, blah. People are donating only for the ability to download en-masse. You realize it's still totally free to download individual covers, right? And if you don't have a lot to offer, you can donate $1. ONE. Tell me where else we can download as many covers we want, in whatever size we want, and maybe I'll change my mind. Until then, your post is garbage.

Also, you said that google ads would cover the bandwidth cost. How does that work, when everyone's downloading through their loaders and never even visiting the site itself?

They do? Name one site that lets me download as many covers as I want, in whatever size I want, all at once. For free. Once again, you can still download as many covers as you want from wiiboxart.com for FREE. Just not en masse.

well you can say its just ONE Dollar.. yeah true but what if another one for example the developer of the loaders say donate just ONE Dollar, and then Waninkoko, Kwiirk, Team twiizer etc. etc.

Keep in mind that to code a program like some loaders is much more work as to upload covers to a site. php got already some nice image functions so its not that hard to resize them...

covers ? yeah there are tons of Coversites like cdcovers.cc they got app. 240k Covers...
and if you use google you find some other resources only for wii like this page f.e. http://www.teambadattitude.co.uk/art/wii/0001.htm.

that's it

cdcover.cc download as many as you like. all you have to do is use one of the many appz to resize them, granted not everyone can do that and not everyone want's to, so they can use the site.

also on one of my previous posts theres a link for a site that lets you download the covers via the USB loader free. it's down to personal choice.

I don't understand where all the anger is coming from. Someone is providing a service that costs them money, so he's asking for help to keep it running. Meanwhile, there are free alternatives for people, too. I really don't get the animosity. Once the USB Loaders get squared away, it's business as usual again. Nobody is going to have to pay if they don't want, and the loaders will perform an auto update just fine. Give it a rest already.

Once again, you can do this on wiiboxart as well. Still for free. So what everybody is apparently complaining about is..... nothing. Nothing except a complete misunderstanding of what is and isn't being charged for.

And also, just so people don't get sent to a scammy ad site, the site you were trying to point out is cdcovers.cc, not cdcover.cc. You need the S.

It's nothing but a bunch of whining teenagers who have no way of donating and are to lazy to download the covers one by one or they more than likely just fail at reading comprehension. 90% of these people are stealing the games anyways and yet they have the nerve to call someone out because they refuse to pay 1 lousy euro for the convenience of downloading the covers straight to their Wii. If I were Taz I would just ignore these idiots and I wouldn't even let people download later versions of coverfloader unless they donate just to piss them off.

I think your crystal ball needs new batteries, firstly I'm probably the oldest person to post on this topic lol not a "whining teenager", secondly I have donated, more than what was required.

"If I were Taz I would just ignore these idiots and I wouldn't even let people download later versions of coverfloader unless they donate just to piss them off"

it would not piss them off they would just use another loader. hmm they could even break new boundaries and burn the game to a dvd.

LOL.....Penny pinching theives LOL......Well I think to solve this whole problem you should start buying games then
rolleyes.gif
the covers come with them......I am mearly expressing my opinion on the sob story about bandwidth and cost to operate and the shake down to get more money......How many people donated a Euro or dollar to that site to get the cover art? I am sure much more than the cost of operation
smileipb2.png
and then to not have it operational after many donated seems pretty low to me hahahah

I had no control over 1. the hacking of the site nor 2. the hosting company closing the site for using too much resources.
You dont have to pay for covers on the site , you can get them free , and thats always been the case.

Covers are free on the site so i dont see your issue.
Who forced you to use the site anyway ?
I must apologise for that , i hate when people force me to log onto a site so i can bitch about it without explaining the full facts properly.

The reason I started my own "mirror" of sorts is because I AM too lazy to download the covers one by one and I want to support the auto update feature and make it free. I'm glad I have the resources to provide this. If the bandwidth isn't as bad as most people are claiming, I might even be willing to host the wiiboxart site in its entirety. I have over 8000 GB of bandwidth per month, so I should be safe.

BTW, I've had good luck with this chat program: http://www.phpfreechat.net/

Maybe it will resolve the security problems with the chat box they're currently having.

Did I direct my comment towards you? No I did not. So you can kindly STFU. I read that you already donated when I replied to your other post, I'm not blind.

djtaz, why do you have to explain to every retard what's going on? f*ck'em.

Can't you just ask the hosting company ban the whole country like rapidshare does? They banned a whole bunch of countries where the hacker were bothering them.

And to the people that don't have a f*cking euro. How is it that you got internet access?? That's what I hate of this site, I live in the freekin third world and still got a lot more money that some of these idiots. If you don't like it being called donating, call it MEMBERSHIP or "ONLY PEOPLE WITH ONE EURO OR MORE" whatever your brokeass understands.

Jesus Christ... (I'm not jesus christ, I'm just saying jesus christ, lol)

8000 gigs is excellent
ohmy.gif
who are u with ? i may move the site there and get my own hosting with them.
The main problem now is the server resources and not bandwidth any more - seemingly the resizing is killing the server (which i can understand to be honest) so im trying to find ways around that - the main culprit was the large covers , so i just made a zip of them all instead for anyone wanting more than 200 covers.

well maybe we can help a bit with some code for lesser cpu usage while resizing...
best thing would be if most loaders would use same size for front covers :S

but i dont really know how much ppl / ip's are resizing at one time...

Why should I pay for a function my browser has? I'll just bulk download them with a simple script.

No one forces you to pay , thats why theres still a FREE section there
wink.gif

If i wanted to force people to pay that ability would be gone.

If you dont feel the site deserves it then thats your opinion and no one should ever change ur opinions.
