This method does not allow SSBB US to play in 480p on a PAL console

Any advice?

Cheers,
Kreeeee

Yeah it does, but for some strange reason you have to set your Wii to 480i and then it will run in 480p.

Wii Video Mode Changer 2.3

Changelog:
QUOTE said:
- Improved pattern search algorithm (more video modes found in some games).
- Fixed a problem in resolution patching (maybe now that black bar at the bottom of the screen should disappear when patching to PAL 576i).

well i'm not too bothered about if it's 480p or 576i, i just need it to stop flickering on my JP wii. the ntsc modes make it flicker and the pal ones don't work at all. i would play the US version (i heard it works) but i wanted to try the custom version that's been floating around but it's only on the PAL version.

i think i just need to wait for more video modes if there are any.
maybe the pal version support only 576i and it doesn't work on ntsc console
try to modify the main.dol with hex editor
the position are :
0x0038db33
0x0038db6f
0x0038dbe7

sorry i didn't reply, i missed your post.

anyway i can't seem to find those lines anywhere? also what do i modify it to?

Hi waninkoko,

Just tried Williams Pinball with VMC 2.3, patching to PAL 576i, but the black bar is still there at the bottom of the screen :-(

@speccy

Could you upload the main.dol from Williams Pinball somewhere and send me the link (PM)?
I would like to have a look at the file. Maybe there are still more "resolution bytes"...

You got to be kidding! Is this what I think it is?

A patcher so you can play all the other regions???? That would make all "Does this work on PAL" questions obsolete!!!!

i think you know as well as i do that that's not the case...

I also have problems playing SSBB on a PAL console. I only see half of my damage meter in the bottom of the screen, it looks like some inches are missing?

I allready tried to patch every video mode from NTSC to PAL, and I tried starting the game in 60Hz mode (from wii settings), but both failed?

@waninkoko,
Great job but...
Does this works for PAL(E) to NTSC(U), I mean I have Wii Sports PAL Europe and I would like to convert this one to work in a NTSC USA Wii console with WiiKey 1.9g, is that possible and how?
Thank you.
Edit:
Ok, I've got USA release and it's working pretty good, so forget it

I want to make Sims 2 castaway PAL version to NTSC cause i want multi-language. I use a NTSC 480i TV. I tried the smart patcher but it makes the screen jumping when I'm playing. What can i do?

I'm new to this, only read about it today, bit out of touch, anyway, it all sounds great, so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

The only US/NTSC game I've got that never worked on my PAL Wii is Prince of Persia - Rival Swords. So I decided to give this a whirl, and sadly its not worked.

I've read all 20 pages of this post and it would seem nobody else has tried this particular game. I've tried lots of variations, smart, brute, and advanced. For brute I've tried various modes, 480i, 480p, 576i, and just plane Pal i. On the Wii I've changed to both 480i and 576i (I've got an LCD TV but using the original leads, so no 480p available, perhaps this is the prob???), no real difference, the game appears in the Wii main menu, but goes to black screen after selecting start, once or twice its goes a bit nuts and you get a brief flickering of green lines here and there on screen. Both ways I'm left needing to unplug the Wii to get it going again. The only thing I can think of that I haven't tried is setting my region to free or US via the WiiKey disc, but I can't find the damn disc or anywhere to download it, I believe its on version 1.9g or something. Also I've been patching the game to PAL via RegionFrii and using BrickBlocker. I've also been re-extracting the main.dol after patching to double check it actually has changed and sure enough its as I want it.

Any advice guys?

Thanks in advance.

@FSARoyster
tried wglp-patch on the main.dol?

ive patched just a few games
but all 100% working using the following way

first download my wii-tools pack:
http://rapidshare.com/files/102211948/odec...-tools.rar.html

then follow these steps after making copy of the iso:
1. reg wiikeyset.reg in trucha021
2. use trucha on iso (keyset: Custom KeySet 1)
3. extract partition 2 -> SYSFILES -> main.dol
4. drop main.dol on Wii Video Mode Changer 2.3/wii-vmc.exe
5. "Smart patch" and choose "NTSC -> PAL"
6. drop main.dol on wglp_v2/wglp.exe
7. "Auto patch an NTSC-U/PAL game" or "Auto patch an NTSC-J/PAL game"
8. replace main.dol with trucha signer (right click on it)
9. right click on partition2 -> "Trucha Sign It!"
10. (if chip doesnt have active region ovverride) regionfrii the iso to pal

if you want to create a ppf patch for us:
11. now open ppf studio -> select both isos and "Create Patch"
12. after that -> share it

btw:
anyone know where to get the source-code from trucha, vmc and wglp?
so i could create an app that does all these things on one click

@Odec - Thanks for the reply, but still no go. I used you're toolkit and no luck. Still, any new NTSC games that come out in the future that I can't wait for a PAL version of I'll this give the another whirl...
