herpes is ur wii setup to be online? Because that page is accessing a website and if ur wii isnt setup to be online it cnt view that page...my 2 pence anyways.
Good point. It isn't set up to be online anymore, had loads of issues getting it to stay online via wireless (there's three other wireless routers that show up from neighbouring flats using different channels that interfere). I had one online update back in December and one update from SSX Blur (PAL). Been trying to get a LAN adaptor, even if I got one now though it I guess it wouldn't solve the problem since it isn't set up.

if you put the error message people are getting on a pc browser it takes you here

http://europa.eu/

and the "marc" before the url on the error screen is known as phishing on the opera browser

http://marc.info/?l=bugtraq&m=108627581717738&w=2
marc is the protocol, guess it's more than likely Wii's internal protocol for accessing files. EU/EU/ENG/Setup/ScreenSave.html may be a page in an internal directory rather than on the web, eg EU/EU/NL/Setup/ScreenSave.html or EU/EU/SPA/Setup/ScreenSave.html may also exist, and which one is accessed depends on the language/region. At a guess.

*edit* Second thoughts, the marc protocol is more than likely to connect to EU/EU/ENG/Setup/ScreenSave.html at WiiConnect24. That does fit in better with the problem. Ordered a LAN adaptor, will need it for my replacement Wii anyways if this stays pear-shaped

Wish I had read this earlier

Just bricked mine with the update. Don't think I will be buying another one tbh this was one of the few games I was really excited about but now I cannot play it.

Does anyone know if there is a factory reset option on the Wii?

Another guy is getting:
marc: EU/EU/ITA/SETUP/ScreenSave.html

This tells us that the wii is missing something that is needed and that it is region based (not only PAL/NTSC) since its looking for a ITA folder (which should mean italy localized version of the file)

so im guessing this update was only meant for NTSC consoles and when updating a PAL console with this update those files arent there anymore.

Flashing in general means that the whole flashmem will be overwritten...

I think everyone with a bricked Wii should post the firmware version they had before updating using this game. Even the ones who can play the game succesfully should post the version they had before updating.

Mine was 2.0E and hasnt been bricked.. But the update on the game disc always fails for me. And still does after updating to 2.1E online.

Urk.. my wii is broken too

hopefully someone can figure out a way to fix this? please?

How strange. I have a pal machine and hadnt updated my wii since the everybody votes channel ages ago. Not sure which version I had before today though but I updated with Paper Mario and it works fine. The only thing I have done is have internet and connect24 switched off since the voting channel. It's at 2.1E now but I think I will keep all the online disabled from now on.

The Problem is this!....

The game wants to Install 2.1 (NTSC) firmware update...
If you got a NTSC Wii there is no Problem...but
If you got a PAL Wii...the System chrashes...
To avoid that...just update your PAL Wii to firmware 2.1E bevor you put the game into your drive and nothin will happen to your PAL Wii

So hope thats a help for everyone

Does the game really boot if you update to 2.1E online though?

I have updated to 2.1E online and the game still wants to do a system update when i try to start the game.

Anyone tried it?

As far as i know ppl that get the game running without problems still had to go trough the update from the disc before playing.

now it's too late for this i updated mine an hour ago

the update took very long and i watched some tv
when i turned back on the AV Channel the fu**ing screen showed up
