Hacking Wii Update: 3.3U Out

well, the system menu wasn't changed, I think it still uses IOS30, and IOS30 wasn't changed, but I wonder what all those other IOS changes were for.

Well they probably trucha-fixed all IOS version. They did this allready in 3.3 to IOS30, so naturally they didn't need to change it this time...
Afaik this would break the homebrew channel... Has anybody tested if it really starts? It should still display in the system menu but be unable to start, afaik...

You would think that nintendo would actually give you an update with some of that trolls fake update wish list. Sure wii doesnt have the capacity but with its usb function they could release a hard drive and add those onto there.

Well part of it has to be getting the Wiispeak Channel setup. It's only 3 weeks away.

That means nothing at all. It's MUCH easier for them to make a change to their own software that keeps the Twilight hack or HBC from running. It's RISKY and DIFFICULT to actually do an outright removal of these.

Or in laimens explanation: It doesn't take a cosmetic change to prove something had been changed. Tell me did anything COSMETIC change in 3.3 when the original TP hack was patched up by Ninty?

Good thing Nintendo doesn't give us a single reason for updating our Wiis anytime this year.

Last I looked the Shop Channel required the update now so if you still buy Wiiware/VC games, you WILL need the update.

I'm pretty sure that Channel is one of the system channels, shop channel or something.

EDIT: 1 minute too slow lol, it was shop channel after all.

If i remember correctly the Homebrew Channel is "HAXX"

I didn't speak about cosmetic changes. It doesn't show up in the Wii impersonater log, so they didn't change it. Only the system menu can delete the twilight save (or rather it's the only logical way they would do it). Btw. the guys on #wiidev seem to think the same.

hah lol now that i got that out of my system, i think we'll still be able to run homebrew like someone said before via the twilight hack (assuming you think ahead and put that on your wii prior to the upgrade, and assuming they blocked copying the hack save to wii again...)
it seems people are saying this fixes the trucha signing bug in all/most of the ioses preventing custom channels (like HBC) and pirated VC/WiiWare wads installed to the wii from running. so if you update you won't be able to play any of these vc games that you didn't buy (unless you overwrite whatever part of the update is blocking it, like ios21 (?) with the old version from an app launched with the twilight hack).

Yeah, they said that you can still go to the homebrew channel, but when you try to do ANYTHING you get error messages.

If they really patched the signing bug in all the IOS-versions you'll need to patch it back into the IOS the homebrew channel runs on.
Expect a patcher that runs from the twilight hack in the next few days. XD

The twilight hack is to 99% certainty not affected, since Nintendo only added/patched IOS-versions and the Wii shop channel in this update. Read it for yourself in the impersonator log...

Installation of homebrew channel maybe affected since it relies on the trucha bug in the ios'es to install the channel... yet actually running anything through TP should not be affected
