Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

Assuming that the network configuration did not get corrupted, it should be able to connect to the internet as I had set it up. If that's not the case, I'll most likely be back here because now we're getting more into programming which is definitely above my level. I have some very small experience, but it's nothing impressive.

Just ran the python script and moved the title to the corrupted area. Am I now going to reinstall the menu using de_Fuse, or am I to move the file to the location using the wupserver?

I'm assuming you mean the the "Install WUP" option in the recovery menu? I created an install folder on the root of my SD card and placed the mlc title for the menu in there, but it says "Make sure to place a valid signed WUP directly in 'sd:/install'", which I did, and in red text it says "Failed to get install info: fffbf3e2". Am I doing something wrong?

Also, just out of curiosity, what does WUP stand for? Wii U program?

I've attached two screenshots. One shows the root of the SD card, and the other shows the contents of the install folder.

which recovery do you use? If you use the original form Gary, you need to place the files directly into the install folder. If you use my fork that should be fine.
How does the content of that folder look. Does it have title.fst, tilte.tmd and so on?

I'm using the original one from Gary. It had been so long since I used UDPIH that I freshly downloaded everything. I'm not sure if your fork has been posted on this thread. It's possible it was months ago, but I don't recall.

It looks like the folder contains everything, but I've attached a screenshot of it for you to take a look.

I did the install and then checked both the mlc and slc using the recovery menu. I got one error with the mlc, which I’ve attached a picture of. I assume the fix would be to remove that title like I did with the menu, and then reinstall it.

slc have no errors, so everything is good with that.

Went ahead and installed that title. That error disappeared, but now there’s a new one that appears to be related to save data. I’ve attached a picture of the error.

Nah, that is fine, it just couldn't open that file, because it is already opened by some system process.

What happens if you just try to boot?

Apologies for the delay. I just booted up the Wii U. I had to go through the system setup again, but my profile I made was still on there, so I didn't exactly have to start from scratch. At a cursory glance, everything appears to be working ok, but one thing I did notice that may be an issue is that the Health & Safety app is missing. I have no idea where it went or how to get it back, but if I need it to launch Tiramisu, this could be an issue.

You can install the H&S app either through the Recovery, like you did with the Menu or just use NUSpli Lite if you have it already downloaded or the full NUSpli, which can also download it.

Yeah I was thinking it could probably be done through recovery. I’ll give that a shot.
Post automatically merged:

I got a failed message when trying to reinstall the Health & Safety. Perhaps it’s corrupted and needs to be manually removed?

Last edited by ChefVortivask,
then delete it via ftp. You can also use that to delete the other folder we moved away.

Or maybe its better to start from scratch by using the wafel_destroy and then set it up again fresh, then we can be sure that it is clean.

In addition to the wafel_destroy you might also use the laptop with the built in cardreader and linux to discard the content of the card, so it s completely erased.

Maybe you can use this also with Windows, but I never tried it personally: https://github.com/tenox7/disktrim just be carefull and don't erase your SSD
