Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

In the log it gets really far, loading the WII U Menu and everything. It should really output something on the display.
Do you see the minute menu on hdmi? Is the gamepad turning on?

Just tried it and everything seems to be working fine now, including the disc drive. I really can't tell you what the issue may have been, but hopefully it doesn't return. I tried starting Smash Bros. but it looks like the Wii U want's to update the game? I'm getting the error code 105-3015. It seems this either has to do with the update folder or the Tiramisu PayLoader blocking updates. I'm currently working on fixing it.

None of them should interfere with the game updates, try deleting /storage_mlc/usr/packages via ftp and then recreate it. I sometimes also had the problem and that solved it for me

I'll give that a try. I did just use UFDiine and it did say the update folder was deleted, so I created a new one, but that didn't fix the problem. How do you recreate that folder? Just make a new folder with the same name?

UFFiine only blocks system updates, not game updates. Yes delete the folder, refresh to make sure it is really gone and then create a new one with the same name

I deleted the folder and made a new one and rebooted the console, but it didn't fix the issue. I don't know if it's related or not, but there are three things in my download management that are not downloading: Wii Sports Club, and update for Wii Sports Club, and LOST REAVERS NOTICE. It does say that the Wii Sports Club data is corrupted and that I should delete it.

They are probably all failing because of the same errors. You have these things in the downloads because of spotpass.
There should also be an mport folder, you can try recreating that too. Then there is also /storage_mlc/usr/save/system/nim

That nim folder contains several other folders. If I delete it, do I have to recreate it or will the system do it itself? If I do recreate it, will the system populate it with all the subfolders?

I tried renaming it but it looks like it returns itself to "nim". I'm still trying to find out what could be wrong. I went to system data and it said there were some unnecessary files, so I let it delete them, but that didn't seem to do anything.

Also this is happening with both Smash Bros. and Pikmin 3. When I try to start either of them, it immediately says preparing update before giving me the error.

I just did a factory reset, which by the way I had to try turning on the Wii U 3 times before it connected to the gamepad, made a throw away user and went straight to trying Pikmin 3, and I’m still getting the same error (105-3015), however this time it gave me the option to start the software without updating. Pikmin 3 started up and ran just fine, but I’d still like to be able to download updates.

You are trying this while not having it defused right?
You could try it while defused and look at the log, maybe we something there.
You could also try formatting the MLC again if nothing helps.

So the pico is still wired to the Wii U, and de_Fuse is flashed to the pico, but the pico isn’t plugged into anything, nor do I have the SD card with the minute menu inserted into the Wii U. I don’t know if this counts as having the Wii U de_Fused or not.

That's what I thought. So if I were to try the game with de_Fuse so we can look at the log, how would I do that? I've never tried de_Fuse while actually trying to use the Wii U. Would I still use the minute menu to boot and then try to start the game?

I tried booting with de_Fuse, but the game doesn't show up when de_Fuse is active. Maybe I have to set the SEEPROM to something else? Anyways, I did try the sports game since we believe the errors have the same cause. I've attached a corresponding log.

You could also try reinstalling the Download applet, but doubt that that helps.
And maybe recreating /vol/storage_mlc01/usr/save/system/nim/nup

I do have a theory, but I’m not sure if it makes sense from a technical perspective. Is there any chance the SLC could be the problem? I would think that in theory, if we start with a fresh Wii U, there should be no issues, but we aren’t exactly starting with a fresh Wii U. The MLC is fresh, but the SLC isn’t. I updated it to match the firmware of the MLC, but we never did wipe it as evidenced by the fact that it said I had Smash Bros. DLC installed.

I don’t know if update data gets installed to the MLC or SLC, nor do I know why I can start a game with a new user as opposed to my old one. I should have my SLC backed up (not at computer at the moment), but maybe starting with a fresh SLC could fix the problem (or even a fresh MLC and SLC)?
