Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

I should have worded my question better. In those last logs I posted, we didn’t see any corruption or media errors, indicating the mlc connection is probably good.

Setting aside the fact that there may be some corrupted files we’re not seeing, what should the log for patch and boot ideally look like when we’re not installing anything (nothing else in ios_plugins except the wafel_core)? I’m assuming it shouldn’t get stuck on alive like that, but I don’t know what should happen.

it will print alive also when it successfully bootet. If it works you will see at the screen. If it doesn't boot we have to look at the logs to see why

Did the install and then tried patch and boot without wafel_setup. It looks different, but something seems to be wrong. I noticed a line that said fatal errors. I've attached three logs. The first is the wafel_setup attempt (or at least as much as I could get), the second is the log written to the SD card, and the third is the log from patch and boot after the install.

Simehw the install of the Wii U menu failed, so there is something fishy with that. Either do the destroy thing, so eceything is clean or use wupclient to move the old folder away and reinstall it then again

I found some posts describing wupclient and wupserver. Is everything done from python? I wouldn't mind giving it a shot, but in my quick search into it, I didn't find anything really describing what to do from start to finish. It probably would just be easier for me to do destroy and start from scratch since I really didn't do much with the Wii U when it was working.

If I do decide to try wupclient, are there any posts that might give a good explanation of what to do?

Get this wupclient
Change the ip address in the script to the one of your Wii U.
Boot to the recovery and start the wupserver there.
Then launch the wupclent with
Code:
python -i wupclient.py
If you get a >>> it should be connected.
Then try a
Code:
w.ls("sys/title/00050010")
to see if it works.
And then do a
Code:
w.mv("sys/title/00050010/10040200", "sys/corrupted")
After that try reinstalling the Wii U Menu.

Last edited by SDIO,
I only have the one raspberry pi pico and since I would need to use UDPIH (unless there’s some other way I can access the recovery menu), is there a way I can use the pico without completely desoldering it from the Wii U? Otherwise, it would probably be easier to start from scratch.

Awesome. That saves me a lot of trouble. I also should have asked this before, but do I need the disc drive to be connected for UDPIH?

Also, something seems to be wrong with that Discord link. When I try to open it, it takes me to Discord in my browser, but it shows no text channels. Essentially, there's nothing there.

Here is the correct link to the wupclient: Link
You will notice when you need the Disc Drive, it would tell you on the Screen. Till that happens you can work without it

I'll give it a shot when I have time. I do have a question though. It appears to me that an internet connection is a requirement for connecting via the wupclient? Is this the case or are we connecting to the Wii U via it's own signal?

The Wii U needs to connect to the network. If you don't have a connection set up, you can load the config from SD card, the recovery has an option for that
