i got wii u today going to set it up in a few hours plan on softmoding it over the holidays is safe to update the wii u to the last st firmware are shall i just leave it

what frimware do u need to softmoded it? and once u softmoded can u still play the wii u online ?

want to cheak before i set it up and update it many thanks shaun

The Wii U is currently unable to be softmoded. There are exploits that can be used if kept on certain firmwares, but that's just saying "well, it's possible on these firmwares. We can develop something that will eventually be able to be softmoded using this exploit, probably". So, no, there's nothing just your average Wii U person can do right now.

What you CAN do is still softmod the Wii mode that is inside of the Wii U. It'll act just like a softmodded wii, and doesn't have anything to do with Wii U mode (more or less).

na sorry i mean the vwii side of things putting the homebrew on it

so u can install the homebrew on vwii and ur wii u can be on any frimware and u can still play wii u games online and itz all safe ?

Yes, modding the vWii doesn't interfere with the Wii U OS, so you can softmod it and still play Wii U Games Online without a problem, just a thing that I don't remember, If I recall correctly after an Wii U firmware update you need to softmod the vWii again. But like I said this could be wrong.
