Wii U Menu Sort
ver 0.1.0

Code: https://github.com/Yardape8000/menu_sort
Release: https://github.com/Yardape8000/menu_sort/releases

WARNING: TRY ON REDNAND FIRST.
I am not responsible for bricked consoles.

That said, 4 USA systems on sysNAND have been tested without issue.
1 EUR sysNAND an 1 EUR RedNAND has also been tested as working.

This will allow you to alphabetically sort your icons on the Wii U Menu.
Icons in folders are also sorted.
Sorts are done per user account.
Not much is shown for a UI. It will just start sorting and tell you when it is done in 5-10s.

The following items will not move:
Folders and system icons (Disc, Settings, etc)
Homebrew Launcher
CHBC (untested)
Any IDs specified in dontmove.hex

dontmove.hex must be edited with a hex editor. Do Not use notepad, etc.
Only use the last 4 bytes of the title ID.
The included sample file has:
10 17 9B 00 Brain Age: Train Your Brain In Minutes A Day
10 10 5A 00 Netflix
10 10 57 00 YouTube
4bytes * 3 titles = 12byte file.
The file can be as large or small as you want, depending on the IDs you don't want to move.
It must be a multiple of 4 bytes.

You can also use dontmoveX.hex where X is 0-9, or A or B.
This allows each user to have separate selection of non-movable icons.
This is the last digit of the 8000000X save folder used by the current user.
Shown by the program as User ID: X

dontmoveX.hex takes priority over dontmove.hex.
Only 1 file is used. The IDs are not merged.
You can delete the files if not needed.

It just does a basic string compare. Not sure how well it will work in foreign languages.
Will have to find a small UTF-8 normalize library.

Optional: How to compile
You will need to compile the Wii U version of libfat.
https://github.com/dimok789/libfat
make from the wiiu\ directory.
Copy the headers and complied library to portlibs\ppc\...

Umm, let's test it a bit first.
Does it work for EUR and JPN?
So far we know it works fine for me in USA.

The format of this homebrew makes it incompatible with hbas anyway .. unless the dontmove.hex file can be done away with :)

hmm i guess i can if i edit the meta to inform ppl that they can block files with a dontmove.hex etc etc. maybe in the morning after some feedback,.

http://wiiubru.com/appstore/#/app/menu_sort its here with an edited meta to include the info you can see ... let me know if you would rather not distribute it like this

also i made a really crappy quick icon lol.
I'm good with that. Thanks for the icon.
I'll include the icon in the next release.

Surprised I have not had more feedback on this util. Probably because a lot of people just read hacking-backup-loaders. :)

From what I know, it has been tested on 4 systems. 3 USA, & 1 EUR sysNAND without issue.

I'll test it out for you.

I was wondering right today if something like this was available! Nintendo didn't bother to put a sort option... I'll try this out. Thanks.

and, to think I just manually sorted my content alphabetically (sysNAND). :P well, I do need to fix something on redNAND, so I'll try this tool out once I'm at my Wii U again. I did encounter a weird glitch with sysNAND about a week ago to where all content became unsorted. I could definitely use a tool like this just in case that happens again. great job, @Yardape8000 .

Yeah, it will be also handy when they release Alien Hominid Wii U (I wish) and you need to get it all the way to the beginning again.

the ps3 also suffers from this issue of no alphabetizing. I wrote a tutorial on how to do so though, but man c'mon it's 2017 and they're still no giving u the option to alphabetize? the 360 sorts alphabetically which is kinda sad.

Mmmm don't know why but it didn't sort out all the games....it put some games randomly before the sorted ones...

This just goes to show that Sony can usually be the best out of all three game console companies, but sometimes Microsoft can be a curb-stomper.

Man, I'd love to see something like that that just copies the layout from one profile across all of them.

I've got everything nicely in folders and then if someone switches to another profile (For separate save files) it looks horrible :(

Need to play with this but would love to see it somehow expanded to 'keep' or restore files in folders.....I like using a few different thumb drives and after switching it pushes all your icons out of folders and back to dashboard.....any way to 'snapshot' entire folder/game structure and then restore?
