there's no kernel exploit on 5.5 right? the private one is just a webkit exploit? T__T
There is also a private kernel exploit that works on 5.5.0, it's just that the current public kernel exploit we use on 5.3.2 still works on 5.4.0, that's the advantage of having 5.4.0 over 5.5.0
 
I just downloaded the Splatoon update even though the servers are blocked, and as I said sometime ago, it's possible to access the eshop too.
So I think if a update comes up and you are playing on your Wii U it may update.

Can anybody confirm this too?

Which way are you blocking the servers, there is more then one way

Pfft, topic schmopic. Until there's new news, nothing to really talk about just yet honestly. I was hoping for the vWii NAND backup/restore for the WiiU bank would make some progress. Makes me wonder if it would be possible to boot into a NAND backup app, then ground the vWii CE, and pull the WiiU CE pin to 3.3v to backup and restore the WiiU NAND. I think that would be pretty sick for downgrading purposes haha

Edit: I suppose the RB pins would also need to be switched.

and then nintendo pulls a sony and removes other OS :P, but i wounder it it would actually be possible to just overwrite the vwii side with a second Wiiu nand, and dual boot with a flick of a switch, but im still hoping to hear if the theory that nand banks could be switched from within vwii pan out, then you could theoretically upgrade and downgrade from vwii mode without needing to even open the console

That's my thoughts, but having a DPDT on the outside of the console would work for me too. I'm not too shy to go in and lift the CE/RB pins and hook them up haha
No point in killing the vWii though, better to just always overwrite the WiiU bank and preserve the vWii as a tool to do everything else with. If you really wanted dualboot, you'd probably just end up stacking the NAND chips anyway, which is even harder lmao

it would almost certainly fail a update, as vwii would be missing, but it may even fail to boot assuming it does any checks on how vwii is getting along at startup

considering it would have to change banks to do that, I doubt there'd be any real issues. As far as I know, the bootloader only checks the sanity of the WiiU NAND, and ignores the vWii NAND entirely until it tries to boot into vWii mode. It wouldn't fail a system update though, as you'd be determining which bank was ever active. All you'd do is manually activate the pins needed at any one time.

yeah i mean if you have a wiiu nand on each bank, afaik FW updates fail if there is just a bad ios installed on the vwii side of things ,so i imagine it would completely fail if it found no vwii at all....unless that check is only performed on updates that contain vwii updates too

I would assume the latter, but that's why I'd much prefer the whole NAND stacking thing anyway, no risk of a bad NAND setup.

did anyone else notice this?:
To be more specific, boot2 is what's writing to it, and it does so every time a new IOS is loaded. Doesn't mean it won't work, as the function is still unknown, but it could just be an OS key switch for the CPU to check the Wii's signature instead of the Wii U's signature on loaded software while in vWii mode.
