The Wii U controller features 3DS-like Circle Pad sliders instead of the tilting analogue sticks that have been the industry norm since Nintendo 64. That wasn't always the case, though.

An earlier version of the controller than the one we've seen included proper analogue sticks raised from the controller's surface, among other changes, as a NeoGAF comparison between the controller's pre- and post-E3 form shows. There are other changes too, mostly relocations of buttons and the stylus, but they're mostly aesthetic choices.

Nintendo has said the console and its new controller are both still in development, so the final pad we hold in our hands later this year could be totally different; we'll just have to wait and see.

As long as its not the Vita's or PSP, I'm good

Fuck, the new vita sticks feel like they're going to pop off.

Gamecube Controller Analogue sticks would've been a lot better
it's not like the sticks would be in the way of the controller closing since it's not a clamshell design.

Keep in mind that the design is constantly changing and that no one knows what the system will look like.
And the Wii U will be compatible with both Classic Controllers (Yes they have analog shoulder triggers) and Wiimotes, hopefully it will also have it's own wireless controller for
multi player and new gamers convenience.

And I'm discussing analog sticks.
Looks off-topic coming into this thread saying how the PSP/Vita analogue sticks suck.
Not as much as the person that started flame baiting. Once again, you came into here trying to start something with me, and succeeded
Looking at the thread so far, I'd suggest re-reading your replies and then replying to this thread.. If someone flame baits your reply, you could start wondering why. It's pretty apparent. Also inb4: Nintendo copied the circle pad from the PSP Go! OMGZ!

Saying something is one things, but telling the reasons why something sucks is another. This is something that happens to be missing in many replies in general..

OT: What I'm waiting for is something that is easy to use and something that can be used for a few hours without stopping. I don't have the time to play every day 30 mins, but I may have time to play for a few hours here and there. Not all controllers are made for this kind of gaming :I

EDIT: Also power level just about 900!

I can understand the use of sliders on the 3DS - the console is a clamshell and the lid requires the nub to be as flat as possible. On the WiiU though it just looks as if they ordered a whole bunch of those sliders and now have to get rid of their stock.

I'll be perfectly honest, *nothing* justifies their use on the WiiU controller, at all. They're less pleasant to use, they tire the thumbs quicker and they prevent Nintendo from putting a button under it, effectively cutting 2 buttons from the controller. It's a stupid choice, it's purely stylistic and I will complain about it as soon as I get a WiiU anyways. :creep:

I would really prefer an analog stick. I cannot see how the circle pad is superior unless I'm missing something.
I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. What's the operating word? The circle pad is as analog as an analog stick. Maybe you meant to highlight the stick part instead?
