Best bet would be too reinstall waninkoko cIOS rev14 then use waninkoko's downgrader 1.11 downgrade to 3.2E

Then open up anyregion changer 1.1b MOD5 change all of the region settings to the correct ones if they are not correct.

Then update through nintendo. Then install IOS60BF.wad

Make sure to make a bootmii backup before doing this

I have just finished re-installing every IOS file - no change.

ie. system menu & HBC menu scrambled graphics, all other phases work fine.

I am still trying to get my hard drive to work with USB Loader GX but it won't recognise that the drive is connected. What other options are there?

Thus why when I use it to then enter the HBC does my scrambled graphics appear..??

Still looking very strange.. remember I can play any game.. look at most channels or applications including bootmii and any .dol application without an issue.. the scrambled graphics only occur in the system menu and the HBC menu!

Easy. Because HBC still uses an IOS, just like the system menu. Games load a DIFFERENT IOS than the menu and HBC , that's why I told you to try setting your system menu IOS to 249 within the preloader settings. Do that, THEN tell me if the graphics are still messed up.

At least to get you updated, you should use Firmware Downgrader 1.11 (http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blog/waninkoko/firmware-downgrader-v111) and install 4.0 for your region, then use Wanin's 4.1 updater (http://www.tehskeen.com/viewarticle.php?articleid=4346) to update. That will make it install. Don't know if it will fix it, but it will definitely end up with an up to date SM.

Some success.. I have just downgraded to 3.2e and the system menu is perfect BUT the HBC menu is still not??????

More info... the shop channel is scrambled upon entry.... my son tells me this has ALWAYS been the case. Is it possible that the routine previously only called by the shop channel is now being called by system menu V4.1??

Didn't try the change to IOS249 in preloader as I had already overwritten it with some of the other updates, if this current direction doesn't prove fruitfall I will try this also.

So as I have downgraded to V3.2 and the sys menu is perfect but others are still scrambled the issue is still present. My next step will be to adjust "carefully" the settings with AnyRegion changer.

bazamuffin: thanks for the file, makes it easier than searching all the time. Also within the downgrading process it asks "do you wish to change the shop channel number" I said yes but it immediately came up with an error... next run of the downgrader I said no and it finished successfully.

Something to do with the shop channel IOS's ???

ensure the regions are the same for everything using any region changer (Wii, shop channel, etc...) then upgrade to 4.1 using the system update, NOT Waninkoko's. Hell, I would even format your Wii first, Then do the update and THEN go through the softmodding (Bootmii->HBC-> DVDx-> TBR-> cIOS-> preloader.

Tried to upgrade via the system update.. came back that there were no system updates available as it is fully updated??? The downgrade must not delete any IOS's. Before you ask, I am definately not onsystem menue V4 or later as there is no SD icon on main screen.

trying to using downgrader to move up each version to see when issue re-occurs.

I had previously done a format, but may yet try that again.

The worst thing is that now that I have had some success, i will now spend more time trying to fix it!!

system menu V3.2e = menu graphics perfect
system menu V3.4E = menu graphics scrambled

How can I clear everything and start afresh.. will the system format do that or still leave the IOS's in place?

what IOS's are called in V3.4 that are not called in V3.2E, although I have re-installed virtually ALL IOS's

System Menu 3.4 uses IOS50. Have you tried reinstalling the HBC and updating the Shop Channel?

Sorry I didn't read all 4 pages, but have you tried using dop-ios to install fresh copies of the ioses?

Ok.. here is the latest things I have done but still not fixed.

Downgraded back to V3.2 (system menu works fine)
system format
attempted system update - "not available as the system is already on latest version"
re installed HBC, dvdx & bootmii

But still upon entry into HBC menu - graphics scrambled (checked shop channel after system format it also had graphics scrambled)

Using anyregion changer, area, region and system all indicate europe, shop channel is 65(australia) I have also tried using system aria as "australia" with no difference.

My end goal is to set up a hard drive (but previously(V4.1) couldn't get USB loader gx to recognise my WD essentials 320G external drive). What version of system menu must I be on to set up an external drive to play games from... I will be trying other loaders soon.

Will wait for a few more responses or ideas before doing any more...

I thank all who have helped so far, worst case I leave it on v3.2 and swap the game discs all the time - this was what i was trying to avoid.

Any further ideas??

Hm, well, as you said, you WERE on 4.1, right? System Menu 4.1 and the newer Homebrew Channel both use IOS60. The Shop Channel (current version) uses IOS61 as I recall. Strange that apparently things working with newer IOS versions aren't working for you (no games use them yet, as far as I know). This doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense (first time I've even heard of something like this).

Try deleting shop channel, nintendo channel etc (in case they are cross-regioned) and then updating via Nintendo. If no success try updating using Wani's 4.0. Not sureif there are any implications, but how about deleting HBC and reinstalling latest version using Bannerbomb?

Not sure about formatting your Wii, heard bad ju-ju about doing that when flitting between firmwares has happened

Already tried dop-ios, how do I delete... IOS60 & IOS61. I have downgraded toV3.2 but these IOS's must still be present as it will not let me update via system update (already current version!)

How do I delete the shop channel?

You can get rid via data management or use anytitledeleter (http://wiibrew.org/w/images/8/8c/AnyTitle_Deleter_HBC.zip). Not sure you should be deleting IOS's

if he's on 3.4 or lower then deleting IOS60 and 61 shouldn't brick him. To uninstall you'll need a wad (use NUS downloader to the IOS .WAD files) and use wad manager to uninstall them. ATD may also work...

Im aware that 60 & 61 are used by 4.0/4.1 and Shop Channel, Im just a bit of wuss when it comes to uninstalling IOS's. Hopefully uninstalling the shop channel etc will allow the update to happen

Make a NAND backup before deleting IOSes!!! (He got Bootmii!)

EDIT:
3.3 = using IOS30
HBC = using IOS60
4.1 = using IOS60

Maybe its IOS60 that is corrupt?

EDIT2: Can you please try to use Preloader and tell to use IOS249 and see if it works? Then it might been pinpointed down to IOS60 to be the one that is broken.
