My first idea didn't work... gonna try something else.

Edit: Good work Darkmystery, I didn't test it but I'm sure it works. You beat me to it lol

I managed to get it working as well, just had to change line 1243 and 1273 to wiilight(1); instead of wiilight(0). I've put it together in a HBC friendly package if anyone is interested:

USBLoader GX (rev551) with slot light modification: http://sharebee.com/13177626

In case anyone missed the last link:

CoverFlow USB Loader RC7 (rev678) with slot light modification: http://sharebee.com/1c9044ae

Enjoy!

Edit #2: I updated the link for USBLoader GX, the first version I posted didn't turn on the slot light in quickboot mode, both loaders linked above have been fully tested and work perfectly.

Awesome, Need to get this to the usbloadergx team and get them to incorparate this into their code

It's a start.

(Might even come in handy to check if the preloader hacks are loaded succesfully!)

But erhm, to ectually keep the light on, we need help from someone with an USB gecko. The function that actually resets/changes the value in adres CD0000C0, needs to be changed/patched. As explained 3x (page 2/4) before.

you know

offset=0xCD0000C0
value=0x00008100

--> thats the standard value of it

try

offset=0xCD0000C0
value=0x00002000

or

offset=0xCD0000C0
value=0x00016000

CD is the starlet hardware register address...... If we were to figure out whats writing to the address that would be very helpful but emails don't seem to be going through to my wii and I can't get the system, to change the value when I have a breakpoint set on the address. None the less I'm trying to figure it out so maybe you folks will be in luck.

Will it be possible to make an ips patch or something so we can patch each new revision of usbloadergx? It would be nice to keep the loader up to date but would mean bugging you guys every time a new version is released

anyone, try this on preloader --> not tested as i donth vae preloader

[Disk slot light on]
version=418
offset=0xCD0000C0
value=0x00008120

normally the value = 0x00008120

but still, i doubt this will work as this is the memory adress and not sysmenu :/

Goes on at startup, but then the Wii turns it off again. Same as value 0xCD0000E0.

Some function in the wii is disabling it. Could be a hardware check though. I think hacking an IOS would take us closer.

is anyone working on this as part of an ios?
does any1 know how to use this?
and would someone be willing to walk me through it?
very willing to do any testing.
thanks
