however the homebrew installer cannot install cause it cannot find a known vulnerable IOS. Perhaps if you have 250 installed, it can work around it.

Did you try using 0.4 installer from here: http://bootmii.org/snapshots/hackmii_insta..._v0.4-test1.zip

If that doesn't work, looks like waiting for 0.5 is the best option...

Fail, I'm figuring out how to convert the truca bug restorer to an elf cause smashstack will not run it as boot.dol

Yyhhggtt:

cIOS250 has a version number of v65535, the update has version 65280... the stub won't be installed by the Wii due to the cIOS having the higher version number.

Just have it load Loadmii, then load the trucha bug restorer from there.

Try running LoadMii from SmashStack and then running Wad Manager from there.

Just rename boot.dol to boot.elf in your computer and it should do the trick

Meh, I doubt I'll ever update again, There was barley a need to go from 3.2 to 4.0. I think I'll just stay where I'm at.
this should be everyones mentality for the next week or so.
until everything is back to normal

Nintendo generally has a useful update after these, like 4.0 was really useful for a lot of things even if it just really added SDHC support. It sped up copying games over to load them. It works great.

System Menu v4.2 reeks of October 23, 2008!
What is that supposed to mean?
The System Menu v3.4 came out on that date. That Wii update crippled MANY homebrew Wiis!
See: http://tinyurl.com/ydnakl8

That was simply a Wii Shop Channel and stealth IOS update, not System Menu 3.4. It was labeled "3.3v2" and "October 23 update". (3.4 came out a month later.)

How does boot2v4 affect the pre-LU64, vulnerable boot1 Wiis exactly?

It doesn't, really. Since they can't ever patch boot1 there shouldn't be much stopping a new revision to BootMii even with boot2v4 installed. And if you're REALLY adventurous you could try getting a boot2v2 wad from any game disc and install that. But beware that doing so could very well be a one-way ticket to a turbobrick.
