which means we would still need new cIOS slots and trucha restoring methods, correct?
On a virgin 4.2U system, I could imagine that it would work like this:
Smashstack or Indy hack
TBR (someone had stated that it works on v4.2U
Wad Manager
Install trucha patched IOS70
Install modified system menu
Install dumped HBC wad (HAXX version)
The reason I say that you would probably need to install HBC as a wad is because I do recall someone saying that the bootmii installer did not work on 4.2....could not find a vulnerable IOS. So, until TT releases an updated bootmii installer to work with the new system version, this would probably be the way you would have to go from a virgin 4.2U.
As for cIOS slots, I see no reason at all why you couldn't simply reinstall Waninkoko's installer and write over the stubbed 249 after all of this was completed.
i didnt know you can install over a stub. thats good news.
we just need bannerbomb and hackmii installer to be updated and all will be dandy?
im sure we can use dop-iosv8 to trucha IOS70
and hopefully waninkoko's 4.2 updater to modify the system menu.

Have you been reading anything in the past few pages? We have found a fix for installing SM4.2, and it indeed DOES work with everything (Homebrew, backups) that worked in 4.1...except bannerbomb.
