If i use Dop-IOSv8 for update to 4.2 and trucha bug the leatest IOS version from Nintendo, will it delete all my previous hacks (Homebrew Channel, cIOS rev14, USB Loader GX..etc) or i'll be on SM 4.2 with all of my hacks?
Because if it don't affect the hacks maybe we can protect our Wii's from this dumb update...
btw i have installed bootmii as bootv2, is it worth trying or just another dumb idea
smile.gif

P.S. I know i don't need this update cuz it only blocks the Homebrew and the piracy on the Wii

waninkoko is working on his updater.. i am testing it for him.. its at least a day or two away from being released.. theres a lot of files and fixes hes trying to implement.. right now i have updated from 4.1 to 4.2 using his test version and it works, except for the fact its still deletes the HBC, but homebrew programs still work as well as usb loaders and shop channel access works.. so hes out to bed for the night, but we are working on it more tomorrow with his hbc return for 4.2 and sys menu fixes ... but hes 1/4 of the way there..

which means we would still need new cIOS slots and trucha restoring methods, correct?

On a virgin 4.2U system, I could imagine that it would work like this:

Smashstack or Indy hack
TBR (someone had stated that it works on v4.2U
Wad Manager
Install trucha patched IOS70
Install modified system menu
Install dumped HBC wad (HAXX version)

The reason I say that you would probably need to install HBC as a wad is because I do recall someone saying that the bootmii installer did not work on 4.2....could not find a vulnerable IOS. So, until TT releases an updated bootmii installer to work with the new system version, this would probably be the way you would have to go from a virgin 4.2U.

As for cIOS slots, I see no reason at all why you couldn't simply reinstall Waninkoko's installer and write over the stubbed 249 after all of this was completed.

Have you been reading anything in the past few pages? We have found a fix for installing SM4.2, and it indeed DOES work with everything (Homebrew, backups) that worked in 4.1...except bannerbomb.
Wow. That's a good news. But I stay at 4.1 rather than update to 4.2...

i didnt know you can install over a stub. thats good news.

we just need bannerbomb and hackmii installer to be updated and all will be dandy?
im sure we can use dop-iosv8 to trucha IOS70
and hopefully waninkoko's 4.2 updater to modify the system menu.

I have already confirmed that IOS70 *can* be trucha patched with DOP-IOSv8. I patched it and tested it out by moving some VC titles to the SD and running them from there. It worked just fine.

We don't need bannerbomb. Bannerbomb is as dead as the twilight hack is at this point. We still have two other exploits to run code in the SSBB and Indy hacks. We just need to go buy a game disc again

I noticed that the Preloader patch removes the check for Zelda Saves. Whoever's safely on 4.2 should give the Twilight Hack a shot for old time's sake. =p

bannerbomb is more convenient than getting a commercial disc again ya know?

i hope bannerbomb gets updated, its one of the most efficient ways of running homebrew in my opinion

Well, bannerbomb was the best thing to install homebrew on a wii period, no need to get a game disc only to install !! Think about it... I wish something similar will be released soon or best, a new bannerbomb

cant be bothered to buy a game i dont like just to install homebrew on a wii

Wait. The Twilight Hack again? Working?
No he's saying it should theoretically work since it wont get deleted anymore due to the hack

and FenrirWolf, great thinking. we need good ideas and observations like this to progress.

Well, for me and you we don't need it too much
smile.gif
I mean, we already have bootmii installed on boot2 and HBC installed. What do we need to bannerbomb our system now for
smile.gif

As for the inconvenience...I hate to say it...but get used to it. The whole bannerbomb thing was a lucky strike. Usually it takes much more to execute code on a console (needed Zelda before that)... The chances of finding another "bannerbomb" again are slim to none. But, I can bet you there are many other hidden exploits in some of the hundreds of games available today
smile.gif
We have two so far
