No worries about the HBC dissapearing now

I am now on a fully 100% functional v4.2U. Good stuff. To recap:

1. DOP-IOSv8. Install IOS56, IOS57, and IOS70 (IOS70 with Trucha)
2. Run wad manager and install hex modified system menu v4.2
3. Enjoy!

Just need a new startpatch now....as I am not such a big preloader fan
smile.gif

Why would we need startpatch?

For Zektor methods ( I still haven't done it almost done reading)
I download DOP IOS v8 and I got
hbc_dopios_v8 (FILE)
and
dop_ios_v8.elf

What do I put in my SD Card?
Really don't want to mess it up...hasn't anyone used it?

No offense, but if you do not know how to run a simple app from the SD card on your Wii, stay FAR away from installing/modifying a system menu!

It's weird how Nintendo is secretly working against us.. On their site they are just saying retarded stuff like "there are some behind the scenes enhancements that do not affect any prominently-used features or menus but will improve system performance."

Imagine Nintendo saying:

"This update removes the Homebrew Channel, DVDX, Waninkoko's IOS249 which allows the playing of backups, and much, much more! Update today!"

they lie so much on Nintendo.com ...
Well there probably actually are enhancements. Otherwise they wouldn't have updatet the System Menus IOS to IOS70.

To stop BG music, health screen..etc. Man, you need to read up a bit in the forums...

I haven't seen anything esablished, just wild speculation. My information was, that the highest version number can be overwritten by itself. I think I read it in one of the blogposts on twiizers.

The IOS250 installed along with cIOS is version 65535. The IOS250 that the update attempts to install is version 65280 (lower).

QUOTE(Slowking @ Sep 29 2009, 03:52 PM) And the hackmii installer should run after you aptched IOS36. But I can't test it myself at the moment.

If the hackmii installer runs after IOS36 is patched it will install an HBC that SystemMenu 4.2 will automatically delete...unless you have patched the SystemMenu.

they're trying to trick nubs into updating. No one will update if they know all it does is remove homebrew. Some will if they say enhancements were made

On the new system menu 4.2, can it still play backups (not retail) though the Disc Channel?

No not YET, unless the DIP module in 250 Is the same as 249, but we would need someone with SM4.2 to install Cioscorp and test this, if not all the Cios within Cioscorp will need redone ....not hard but time consuming.

Nintendo actually tried to get rid of IOS250 with a lower version number? Are they retarded? o.O

Or the preloader hacks, which is why I had that step before using the hackmii installer in my rundown.

ok how to get HBC back on your wii if you have 4.2

ok if you don not already have wad manager channel on your wii, and need it to install the HBC DO THIS

1. Run indian jones exploit

As I understand it, you updated officially. Did you transfer the save successfully?? I get a message "may not have copied" and doesn't show up in data management. I can't even get my original save back onto my Wii.

It took Nintendo 2 years to fully block this stuff? Sad...

4.1 FTW!!!

However, i think that new game discs from now on will have this 4.2 update on them...
wink.gif
It'll take them six months minimum. We still have yet to come across a game with System Menu 4.0/4.1.

did this and worked perfectly.

i proceeded to install preloader and it installed successfully, but then gave me the system menu corrupted message running on IOS 60 and IOS 70.

IOS 249 booted up however.

tried going back to IOS 60 got the same message.

so i booted dop-ios via hbc through preloader to reinstall IOS 70

no go, so i just reinstalled the modded system menu .wad

so preloader .29 cant be installed in 4.2 correctly?

How long has anyone had to sit at teh preloader menu to get prompted for the update? I want .30 for a backup before adding the 4.2sysmenu with the hexedit. Thanks

EDIT: Can anyone point to a mym for darkwii, I'd like to get the black sysmenu back while I'm at it

Good to hear you got it going xzxero. I'm not even worried about preloader. The only reason I ever used it initially was to block updates....but that block only goes for disc backups. If you are a disc backup person, you can use the latest NeoGamma v8 beta which has its own disc update blocking option
smile.gif

Also, if you are using USB loaders, you don't ever have to worry about updates. When you move an iso to the WBFS drive, it conveniently scrubs out the update partition anyway...but you probably already know that

Well, if you install Preloader, installing the updated hex modified System Menu will just override it.
tongue.gif

I want .30 for my 4.1 backup for the SDHC support.

After installing the 4.2 sysmenu then adding preloader it will "move" sysmenu not overwrite it......Installing darkwii version of sysmenu after hexedit will require another installation of preloader

EDIT: I like preloader to be able to select sysmenu or HBC at boot. Bootmii wont allow me to sit on my fat ass across the room and select
