Hacking wii key mod chip

my friend has a modded wii (wii key V?) had it about a year
for some unknown reason he updated sys menu to 3.4e
now no backups play and cant install homebrew or any wads
managed to load up homebrew using tp hack but after exiting homebrew its not installed and the tp hack save file
disappears from wii system save

any ideas

TP Hack always gets deleted after every use on menu 3.4
Maybe try downgrading? (search a guide)
