Outside of one big game release (Metroid), everything else seems meh.

Metroid: Other M
Developed by: Team Ninja/Nintendo
Published by: Nintendo
Release date: August 31st (America)
Genre: Action
My Hype Level: Do want.
GBAtemp Hype Level: Do want to flood GBAtemp!
I do want this game. Metroid Prime sucked in my opinion, all three of them. The only thing I've wanted was 2D Metroid-style play, and not even the DS version delivered that. This does look fun though. It's part 2-D side scrolling, part full 3-D world, part first person (well you just go into first person sometimes). I do want this game and, even more, want to see if it works or if it's a spectacular failure.
Gunblade NY and LA Machineguns Arcade Hits Pack
Developed by: Sega
Published by: Sega
Release date: August 24th (America), August 26th (Australia)
Genre: Rail shooter
My Hype Level: I do love me some arcade rail shooters
GBAtemp Hype Level: Huh?
Sega does love bringing rail shooters to the Wii. They brought Ghost Squad and House of the Dead 2 and 3 to the Wii as well as gave us a brand new title, House of the Dead: Overkill. These are another two on-rails shooters akin to the arcade and hopefully they'll be just as good. Now I only need Time Crisis and I'm set.
Madden NFL '11
Developed by: Tiburon
Published by: Electronic Arts
Release date: August 10th (America)
Genre: Sports
My Hype Level: I'd much more prefer a good soccer/footie game.
GBAtemp Hype Level: Probably the same
I never really liked football. Even here as an American it's really seemed like a sport I never cared about. Watching a game of soccer (or real football) or baseball is a lot more amusing to me. As for gaming, I never bothered with the games. Odds are this will just be like last year's football game but with updated rosters... Whoop-de-do. And the Wii versions always get the short end of the stick on these titles too.
NHL 2K11
Developed by: Visual Concepts
Published by: 2K Sports
Release date: August 24th (America)
Genre: Sports
My Hype Level: Meh, don't like hockey games
GBAtemp Hype Level: 2K10 got some great reception
I wasn't too fond of hockey games in general so I didn't put any effort into learning the ropes of 2K10, but 2K10 got a great reception on the Wii, so much so that this title is exclusive for the Wii. Hopefully hockey fans can rejoice and get another great, exclusive hockey experience for the Wii.
Ivy the Kiwi?
Developed by: Prope
Published by: Xseed Games
Release date: August 24th (America)
Genre: Puzzle/Platformer
My Hype Level: Tried the DS version, wasn't impressed
GBAtemp Hype Level: Apparently they were impressed
Thanks to SoulSnatcher for the NA boxart/resizing
As for everyone else with pics, thanks but I wanted a correctly sized one.
Ivy the Kiwi? came around not too long ago to Japan. The DS version luckily had an English translation hiding in the midst of it so once it was patched most things were English. I played a bit of that and honestly I wasn't impressed. It felt like a more constricted and worse controlling Kirby: Canvas Curse. And it was pretty frustrating and boring. But apparently people here liked it so I guess they'll be glad this is getting a localization.
Other titles
- Tetris Party Premium: 8/5 (Japan)
- Marines: Modern Urban Combat: 8/21 (Europe)
- Twinkle Queen: 8/26 (Japan)
- Combat Wings: The Great Battles of WWII: 8/30 (America)
Overall Summary
It's pretty average outside of Metroid: Other M being the only big highlight this month. Gunblade NY and La Machineguns looks like some fun arcade shooting though and you've got your sports games with NFL and NHL games. There's also Ivy the Kiwi? too, if you want it.
Next month is a lot of super heroes. Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions and Batman: The Brave and the Bold both come down, as well as NHL Slapshot, a new Lord of the Rings game in Aragorn's Quest, a North American version of Samurai Warriors 3 (finally), and the disputed Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.
Have a nice August!

Some rules and stuff.
- No flaming. If I list a game you don't like, too bad. If I don't, too bad.
- This is mainly North American releases, sorry. I'll, on occasion, do a European or Japanese release if it's big enough and not already out in America.
- If a game is already released in English and is being released again for another region, I won't bother adding it. Like say if Super Mario Galaxy 2 was out in America in April (it won't) and it came out in May in Europe, I won't list it for May. I'll also do the same if a game was released in English (aka Europe or America) and is being released in Japan.
- I get my dates from GameFaqs, Wikipedia, and IGN, so if a date is wrong don't blame me. You can, of course, point it out and ask me to fix it if you have the right date.
