I have version 3.3U and trying to downgrade to 3.2U to install the backup launcher.
I am following the instructions from: http://www.iol.ie/~taz/wii/WiiHowToGamma.html.
I downloaded the files from: http://www.iol.ie/~taz/wii/002fixGammaLoader.zip

I have completed steps 1-11 with no issues. When I try the cIOS Downgrader (Step 12) it failed.
It downloaded all the content #66, #9, #10, etc fine and started process to delete the /tmp/ files.
Right after "Deleting /tmp/00000002" .... OK
Then it just says "Firmware Installation FAILED!"

Any suggestions? Should I try to downgrade to 3.1U instead?

Make sure that your internet connection is pretty strong. Also, if you downloaded the app from someone, it may not be legitimate. See about finding another version of the app, same version number just from another source, and try running that.

as timishu said it may be your internet connection not able to download the files it needs. Try putting the wii closer to the wireless router when you do it.
You could also try to get the systemmenu3.2u.wad file and install that

I do have a fast internet connection and everything downloaded properly. After multiple attempts, the error always shows up at the same location.
Where can I get systemmenu3.2u.wad and how do I install it?

A few days ago I got the GC backup loader, installed it, can play GC games fine.

However when i try to run a Wii backup now, it gets "disk cannot be read" error and halts. Any ideas? During the patch i did make sure to enable the Wii backup load.. : /

install cMIOS again? As with cIOS Downgrader, it also downgrades your MIOS, thus, bye bye cmios.

I should also mention that before I installed it, this GC backup worked. All of them did...now they don't :x

If everything worked why did u install more ? If it works dont try to fix it, its a simple rule in life.

Hi,

I managed to run the IOS Downgrader with my current configuration, but then I have the same problem with the cIOS Downgrader. Maybe my wireless is wierd :-(

But I could run the cIOS Installer and AnyTitle Deleter without errors. The Backup Launcher just enters a black screen and I have to reset my Wii, but another with 002 fix can run but gives 324 error.

- Is the cIOS Downgrade needed for playing backups?
- Shuld I try to remove IOS249 and run the guide again?
- Something else?

Thanks!

Ios249 is corrupt and needs to be removed and re-installed - its as simple as that really.
If you cant remove it you wont be able to re-install it even though it says done it hasnt overwritten it.

I finally made it work :-)

I tried to use a fixed ip adr. instead of dhcp and that made the connection way better. Then I was able to make an IOS Downgrade and use AnyTitle Remover to remove my first try (IOS249) and follow the guide.

All my backups didn't work but someone told me that using Verbatim +R and force ImgBurn to change the book type to -R should work. And it did :-)

I haven't used cIOS Downgrade to 3.2E yet (The kids needs the Wii) but why do that at all?

Thank you once again!

I meant Wii backup. So my wii backup worked, i installed GC loader, and now it gets an error. Isn't there a wa to get both of them to work? I'd hate to have to upgrade and downgrade every time i play Wii/GC backups =P.

I havent installed the GC loader so im not sure what it does , but it looks like the problem is with yout GC loader overwriting something for the backuploader - im sure theres a workaround , but a better place to ask in the the GC loader thread as it wasnt even around where this thread was started and a lot wont have installed it.

I got the backup launcher to work. Still could not downgrade to 3.2U but was surprised the backup launcher installed properly. Was able to play backup games fine.
THANKS for the assistance.

Unfortunately, that didn't work either. I removed ios249, installed cios_fix with the wad manager, then proceed to install the cIOS installer. Then I inserted the backup game. Started the backup launcher, all black screen again..... waited for a few mins and still black screen. That one time it did manage to run, it was only a few seconds for the black screen. So.... what now :S?

Or is there a way to fix the 001# error I got when trying to run the game using the disc channel? It was because of that that I decided to try the backup launcher in the first place.
Erm - how were u able to run the game on the disc channel ?
Have you tried original discs ?
What dvds are you using for the DVD's
What firmware version are you on ?

The game just loads in the disc channel, when I clicked start it goes to the 001# error.

Tried original American Idol on backup launcher, didn't work.

HP dvd. PAL iso patched with WBB. Burned on 4x with Nero.

3.2J currently. Downgraded from 3.4j.

ether: I have to use trucha signer to open the iso first? Because the Disaster: Day of Crisis iso cannot be opened with trucha signer. :S

And also, I thought about the extra things plugged in, and I forgot about the American Idol mic that was plugged in behind, so I plugged that out, reinstalled and it didn't work. I also then unplugged the wii-mote charger too. Removed ios249 and reinstalled everything, but still to no avail, tried autoboot channel and that didn't work either... black screen all the way. Could it be the HDMI cable that's affecting? Should I change it to the red, yellow and white one? Cos not sure that will make it work... sigh.
