A while back, it was confirmed that a new DVD drive was shipping with Wii's that did not have a controller chip. Dubbed the D2nothing boards, it was speculated that no modchips would be available since the controller chip and the D1A chip.
d2Pro has released a statement that they have a chip that works with this new drive revision, but it is still in the testing phase, and will be released shortly.
Due to the controller chip being integrated, unfortunately, there will be no solderless install for quite some time, if ever.

Since the appearance of the so-called 'd2nothing' drives in the market over the last month-or-so, a number of concerned installers have emailed us to ask about a modding solution for when this drive becomes commonplace. At this point, we would simply like to confirm that we already have DVD Backups booting on d2nothing drives using a new solution that we have been developing for some time. We will make new announcements about this exciting solution soon!
