@appleburger Well the thing is that the OSSC has very few options for 480i and 480p resolution, at best it goes up to 960p which makes the pixels look very sharp and many may not like that look.

It's not that the upscaler doesn't work for them but that the results are not what they expected or they are using poor quality cables.

The next OSSC pro will triple 480p and possibly make a noticeable difference, but it will never look as good as using Dolphin and HD textures.

I’ve read it multiple times on forums. I was looking into getting one for my Wii and enough people told me it’s particularly not great for Wii, so I went with a CRT. But I haven’t seen it for myself.
yeah wii looks great on the retrotink 5x.

I'm actually pretty happy with the results on GC and Wii games on my OSSC, although my first experience was super bad. Not just me, I remember reading old comments saying 480 systems did not look good...

But something people seem to miss (and I did too when I started using mine a year ago) whenever I look around for other opinions on the OSSC, is that they are talking about BEFORE the setting "upsample2x" existed or don't know about it.

Before/Without it, yeah, it looked rough, very pixelated. WIth it, though, it's a huge upgrade. Another problem that people tend to forget (or plainly don't know it exists) is that they're double-lining a picture with a strong deflicker filter. When you combine both things, yeah, the result was a terrible picture.

Taking away the filter and using upsample2x makes a remarkable difference. There's really very little talk about post-2000s consoles with upscalers if I am honest, the conversations always seems to circle around 240p systems, which I understand as they're the ones to gain the most out of these devices, but the Wii and other 6th gen. systems have also something to gain out of the OSSC and devices like these.

Edit: I just read that the OSSC Pro has been delayed. That's a pity...
