I got my Wii-Clip from ic2005.com and the D2Pro from canadamods.ca. Took about 10 days (I actually started the thread, "How long did shipping take" or something like that in this forum)

I got the D2Pro over everything else because it seemed like it was the least buggy and was newer than D2Ckey if I'm not mistaken. I figured that'd be less pins for the D2CKey Wii-Clip to have to line up with perfectly on the drive chip.

Perfect! You're right. D2Pro is newer and said to be upgradeable!

I've decided to wait until Ozmodchips gets D2Pro with Wii-Clip. Oz told me that it wouldn't be too long!

Thanks a lot, djg08642!

Bear in mind though, that unlike the D2CKey and clip combo, the D2Pro install will still need some soldering to the board:
As seen here. for the region free ability

If you want a completely solderless solution with a D2C, it still seems that you need to go for the D2CKey.

You're absolutely right! Many thanks.!!

I'll probably order D2CKey Wii Clip then!

nice thread and it convinced me to splash the cash.
however, today i noticed i boo-bood on my choice of clip.
i have the d2pro chip but managed to order the clip for d2cpro
by mistake. (v1 clip instead of v4).
clip is still on its way from techsick.
comparing the two clips its obvious of the differences, however
is there any way of making the v1 clip fit the d2pro or should
i just cut my losses and order again.

thanks for looking and sorry if i should have started a new thread
but this looked like a good place to start.

Wow. so i wasnt pissing in the wind.
ta very much.

Got my clip with D2CKey from techsick yesterday.

Had a few problems installing it, as for a while it just refused to recognise backups or originals.
Eventually though, and after 3 hours of opening the wii and reclosing it, I eventually got it working!

So, all in I'm happy with the purchase - it does what I ask it to do

My key clip just came in the mail, and I am very satisfied with it. It plays backups perfectly and it reads my dual layer SSBB original. It is great and I am very glad I got it.

Not too sure what kind of 'messed up install' that you are waiting to see. The thing is either clipped on properly, or not. thats it.
It just sounds like a general elitist comment that serves no purpose

Thanks a lot Oz!!

Ordered my Wii Clip + D2Pro from Ozmodchips.com on Tuesday afternoon USA EST.

My item shipped within the next 12 hours. It has reached Los Angeles already.

When I called DHL, to ask the estimated date of delivery.

He was like "This package is arriving very very fast from Melbourne..!! It'll reach you by tomm noon!"

Less than 72 hours for a package to travel from Australia to USA (Louisville KY) is just phenomenal!

Great service, Oz...

Thanks again..

If you read the post I was replying to, it was sarcasm.

I said from the very start that this would be an easy, cheap, long term solution for people who can't solder.

So far, it looks to be that way.

Hi there got my clip with D2CKey yesterday from OZ, going to install it today. First of all the chip is region free. There is no solder on jump1 or 2. My region is North America. They way the chip is now will I be able to play PAL game cube games or would I need to jump1. If I jump one, will this allow me to play North American and Pal games or just Pal. I want the best method that will allow me to play Pal and northamerican GC and Wii games.

thanks

If you would just read the installation instruction for the D2CKey, then you can see that there is NO region override if jumpers 1 and 2 are not shorted. This is the case with your chip now.
Since you have a USA WII, just short jumper 1 (solder some tin on it). Now you have enabled region override for your USA WII and you can play games from ANY region. That's PAL, Japan and USA.

Have fun.
(I'm still waiting for the delivery of mine)

Cheers,

All the Wii-Clip versions are available now. Which one would you recommend for someone who has a launch-day Wii and doesn't have a modchip yet?

Thanks, by the way I ordered my Wii Clip and D2CKey on April 1, just got it yesterday. This was coming in to Canada.

thanks

Fair enough. Apologies if I picked that up wrong.

I'm in the same position as you and I'm going to grab myself a Free-Clip with Programmer and install yaosm 3.0Final b2 onto it.
