Still no go on the peripherals. If anyone has any idea how to tell what additional IOS is used that would be great.

If anyone knows how to allow both USB ports to be used that would also be helpful. I'm not sure what's restricting me to only one.

Nope, can't play. There is a checklist for the usb connector and each of the monitors. The USB connector is checked off and working, but the two monitors are not. Can't get past that point.

Would appreciate any help anyone can provide.

Can you confirm that the game will load from the retail disc and recognize the usb peripherals?

I'm wondering if it's a problem similar to how the USB camera in Your Shape had a lot of difficulties loading.

Though surprisingly the disc only includes the 4.2 system update. It also doesn't seem to have IOS58. Peculiar....

@NoFate

Each monitor has 2 blue LEDs (the way the Wii Remote has 4 blue LEDs) and a small button. When the button is pushed the first blue LED is supposed to turn blue and stay that way. Instead both LEDs flicker for about 10 seconds then turn off. So the monitors have power, and the USB stick in the back of the Wii is recognized by the game, but for some reason the Wii/USB stick will not communicate with the monitors.

I've never played a game that required peripherals that use the USB port. Is this how guitar hero, etc work? I seem to remember something special needing to be done to play those games. If so, could that work here as well?

@doyoma

No, it does NOT work with the retail disc. What I wrote above was concerning the retail disc.

But again, I haven't updated my Wii in any way in a long time. I am on system menu 3.2 using Waninkoko's cios rev(?). Could that have something to do with it? If so, could someone possibly tell me the ideal setup for today if there is one? I've been away for a while, obviously.

I cannot try it ripped to my HDD because I only have one USB port available (which is being used by the HDD), though I can't remember if that restriction is a result of my cios or my USBloader (wiiflow 1.0).

Have you tried loading the retail disk using Geckos to bypass the system update and seeing if the game works then?

Also I'm not sure which cIOS is best for using usb peripherals? Should we be using cIOS 249 or some of the Hermes variations?

The game includes the 4.2 update, so I think it needs something which your still-on-3.2-system doesn't offer. That the original disc isn't working (without update) would be a hint on that.

I would suggest to update your Wii to at least 4.2. There are some homebrew firmware updaters (e.g. Waninkoko's) around to do that, so you shouldn't run into great problems here even if you don't want to use Nintendos update method.

After that, install most current CIOS versions (Waninkokos Rev20, Hermes 5.1) if you want to play it from USB-HDD. Both CIOS are capable of giving access to USB-Hardware like "Band Hero" drums etc. - as far as I know. Don't know much about "Wii Flow" though, at least with "Configurable USB Loader" everything should work just fine.

Sometimes being on current versions isn't that evil. So just take an hour or two once a year and update.

EDIT: Does Bootmii provide brick protection even without creating a system restore? If so I'll just go ahead and do it.

@doyama I am already bypassing the system update and as I have said, the game runs but does not pick up the peripherals.

@Cypherdias There used to be reasons not to upgrade from 3.2, but that was a while ago. Unfortunately, I still have one. I am still using Starfall for brick protection, which I think requires 3.2. I will try Bootmii, but don't have an extra SD Card. Bleh. Once I've had a chance to pick one up I can try that.

Is there some disadvantage to using 4.3? I've seen a couple people mention staying with 4.2, but I'm not sure why.

Well I'll probably pick up the retail game today and see if I can get it to work as well. I'm sort of in the same boat, running 3.4U with USB Loader GX. Though I haven't updated my cIOS in probably 1-2 years. I might still be running Wakinono's v14 or something.

Though it might be worth testing Wakinono v20 and seeing if that works. That might also give you the 2 usb ports being usable.

It should be possible with the retail disc, especially if it was doable with Your Shape, surely this one should be easier.

Updated to rev20. Didn't help (nor did it let me use both USB ports). Going to try a newer version of wiiflow and then USB LoaderGX to see if either of those allow both ports.

Also stole an SD card out of the camera, installed bootmii and am backing up the Nand. Trying to figure out whether to install 4.1, 4.2, or 4.3.

where can I get those 3 ios from, so i can update mine as well to see if i can get the game working from drive?

Yeah, so, um...

There is a "Remind peripheral" option in the game settings. I did this and it worked.

I did this AFTER updating to 4.3. Even after updating to 4.3 using DOP-MII, I still needed to run a system update off the disc. Would it have working before updating? I don't know.

so you needed to run the update on the disc in order to get everything working? is the update on disc 4.2?

EDIT:

ios56-5662 Installed this and now everything is working, loads from drive, everything is detected and working, so I guess I only needed ios56-5662

Thanks again (:

Was that off the retail disk or WiiFlow, I kinda lost track of which one you were trying to use

I'll try to enable that option as well when I get mine and see if it works via 3.4U

I have a PAL dump of the game, but I'll dump the NTSC version and see if I can get it running via a USB loader as well.

What system version are you running, and which usb loader are you using out of curiosity?

4.1U and running from dvd drive, not using any loaders after installing ios56-5662 I can run game right from drive without using neogamma and now everything is working

It works fine on 3.2 as well. Just make sure 56 is installed. RETAIL disc.

My only real problem was the hardware not syncing correctly.. nothing to do with my setup.

As for through a USB loader, it won't work for me because when the usb loader is in use it does something to the other usb port. This is with Wiiflow 1.1. I'll try another loader at some point but right now I'm just glad it is working.

Ok just got the game and I using Gecko it autoinstalled IOS56, and the game works using the retail disc on 3.4U

I'm having a bit more trouble on the USB loader side. On my older Wakinono cIOS249 it would not recognize the USB device on the PAL version of the game. Updating to v20 recognizes the receiver, but it won't sync the heart rate monitor. I'm ripping the original NTSC version now to see if that helps. Using USB Loader GX. So it at least recognizes the peripheral, but can't seem to sync the other receivers.

Crap now I'm a step backwards. After installing rev20 it's screwed up even loading the disc from retail.... grrr.... I guess I'll have to reload IOS56 somehow?

Ripping the game 1:1 and going to get the IOS56 wad off of it if possible.
