and to answer my own post, I bought a wii motionplus and it works for this game.
for anyone that's having problems, it worked great for me with:
3.2U, rev14, usbloader cfg

I have Rev14 but keep getting black screen when I start the game....this is the only game that hasnt worked for me so far.

I think only canadians and northern US people are going to try this

I might give it a go, I've enjoyed some ice hockey games in the past.

Sort of came out of nowhere but its had some good reviews.

Don't see why only US and canadian would love this game... Hockey is a hell of a fun sport to play as a video game when you have friends.
So with the same argument, looks like US and Canadian people won't play Fifa or PES, right?

Like Hadrian says... this one looks to have some nice reviews, I'll definitely give it a shot. Even if it was poor in games modes, I used to love the NHL hitz 2002 on gamecube, was really fun! So am sure I'm gonna enjoy this one too!

I have read on IGN that this game has one of the best online options for a wii game. Plus the ability to see what your friends are doing online while playing offline.

Pretty damn sweet.
