You're using exfat which allows files 4gb and larger. Friend is using fat32, which allows only less than 4gb files.

You should be using Fat32 because Nintendo's exfat driver has a tendency to corrupt files when using homebrew

Not just when using homebrew, official games can do it too. Anything that can cause a crash in the middle of writing. Autosave in Pokemon was known for causing corruption, including on unhacked consoles.

You can get a USB to SD card reader if you don't have a SD card slot on computer, you don't need Rufus, you can use like Guiformat. You can do everything on FAT32 that exFAT can do, but you might want to learn how to install game over usb cable with tools like dbi.

don't use a pc to format it. Backup your stuff, and format it in nyx, then use the usb connection in nyx to put all of your stuff back.
