Homebrew Why isn't WfcReplay working for me?

I've done everything in this tutorial, with no results: http://wololo.net/2014/12/13/3ds-playing-your-ds-games-online-with-wfcreplay-by-tardisidiot/
I get a long "connecting to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection" screen when trying to play worldwide in Days of Ruin with the cheat enabled, and then an error message. If I patch the rom, it fails to load off my R4.
This game is listed as working on the WfcReplay site. Is it a flashcart issue? A 3DS issue?

Annoying that the Nintendo Wi-Fi service was shut down.
Have you checked the DNS settings? are they still valid? You're using the same number in the guide for both primary AND secondary? This workaround was from a few years ago. So just checking.
