Gaming Why is there such a lack of 3DS Virtual Console games/development?

Like the title says, Why is there so few games for the vitural console and why are they being so stingey releasing more?
Like really i would waiste so much money just rebuying a bunch of games they could be launching but they just dont.
They dont even release any new 3DS games worth buying any ways! least give me something to play on my 3DS that i cant on my dslite!

I figured as much. Hench why I started this thread as a rant.

This is why people hack and crack and pirate. Not because people are too cheap to pay for games, but because the games they want to play are being horded.


I hope Steam someday does the world a favor and gets into making handhelds.

Aside from them not wanting to flood the market, I think there may be other factors that can affect the time it takes to publish a game, including:

• Communications between the original publisher/developer and Nintendo.
• Coordinating with other Nintendo divisions to synchronise releases.
• Converting the manual to digital format to be displayed on the 3DS/Wii.
• Creating promotional material for the eShop/Wii Shop (including banners, graphics, videos, etc).
• Testing— it would be naive to assume every game will work perfectly on the emulators (which may be in constant development).
• Working with rating boards (PEGI, ESRB, etc) to ensure the rating hasn't changed for the game since its original release.

So, it may not be entirely Nintendo's fault.

Nope, that's not what I'm saying. I don't expect anything at all, I'm just pointing out the potential and, what I believe the OP is referring to when he says there's a "lack of" games. If anything, the post you quoted suggests I'm more understanding than others here when it comes to the insignificant number of VC games released week in, week out.

FWIW, my opinion is that people think Nintendo is slow because they're used to downloading and playing ROMs on their other devices with no red tape whatsoever. If those people never had access to emulators and ROMs they might be impressed with 1 or 2 VC games per week.

you have to get REALLY dedicated fanboys to PAY for GameBoy games again...

add some GBA titles (with 3D enhancements maybe?) and maybe sales might increase

Well I think I could speak for many Brazilians when I say that it's NOT the other way... I do it (did it, since 3ds there is no pirating) mostly 'cuz the games I want to buy simply are unavailable in my country or because games here are a [censored]...

EXAMPLE: While Super Mario 3D Land costs $40 in USA, in here official retailers sell for (the cheapest) R$200... converting to US$ gives roughly US$100 THE CHEAPEST (I've seen for R$350 = US$185 > USA 3ds price!!!) or you can always buy from the internet in here, since practically no site sells games internationally, which still is a [censored] 'cuz the cheapest is like R$130 = US$70...

I've bought the 3ds at much cost, since there is no pirating, had to beg my friend to import it... now I have 5 games and no prevision to when i'm getting new ones... 'cuz I need to import them... and I simply can't buy imported online 'cuz noone sells!

I've spent around US$400 to buy my 3ds, 5 games and 1 simple protection kit... which means R$760, If I bought it here I'd be dead by now... lets price detail it shall we?!

Street fighter 3d* = R$115 = US$60
Samurai Warriors* = R$120 = US$63

That would be considering NO TRANSPORTATION... that alone would roughly be around R$150 = US$78

So... in other words... HAD I BOUGHT THINGS HERE I'D HAVE PAID R$=1300 = US$685!!!

This is NOT including that the cheapest protection kit, near mine, costs R$=70 = US$36 and it comes with 2 screen prot., a floppy 3ds carrying case, a Stylus and a wrist strap!

Now... since Eshop IS WITHIN REACH and with a NORMAL PRICE I've spent more than US$60 on it... and I'm eager to spend more... but there isn't more worth getting games...

When I saw retails at Eshop I almost wept... but NOT AVAILABLE! and it tells me that the games are available at my retailers for US$40 = R$76... WHERE NINTENDO... WHERE IN HERE CAN I BUY MARIO 3D LAND FOR R$76?!

I tell you where: NOWHERE! 'cuz the cheapest (which is on a NON-RETAIL) costs R$130 = US$69, plus transportation means all for the bargain of R$160 = US$85!!!

I'd gladly pay R$80 for a game... it's a bit overpriced... but at least is less surreal, or even available... 'cuz on retailers most games don't sell yet!

So yeah... lot's of ppl don't pirate 'cuz they're cheap... it's just because the other way is AN ABSURD or even IMPOSSIBLE!

I know that these prices aren't nintendo fault, they're my country importation policy... but it makes thing impractical! So...

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NINTENDO, MAKE RETAILS AVAILABLE ON ESHOP!

1.99 to 5.99? Seriously that's to much for full games old games to where only dedicated fans would buy them?

I really don't care for the VC on the 3DS like some people said I can just a flashcart to emulate GB/GBC and all that. Though personally I have no urge to play the classics. Way too occupied with current games.
