Ok, the PS5 has a really sexy controller, but Xbox has game pass which is better than PS now. Xbox also has a cool developer mode for RetroArch, but PS has VR! PS5 also has a clean UI, but Xbox has the best backwards compatibility in the world! The XBOX SS is cheaper but only has 1440p. The PS5 has PS Plus but Xbox has Xbox live! PS5 has exclusives, but no Halo! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CHOSE

don't sell your soul to the devil hint: series S normally sells out slower than the X or PS5 and don't use target or Best buy as they only do in store pickup now
it sells out slower because it's not really worth buying, nearly useless tiny onboard storage, more than resolution is sacrificed when it comes to performance, backwards compatability is terrible due to a lack of a disc drive

Just buy a PC. You can still get game pass, you can use any controller you want, and you can run games at much higher settings. And it's not like Xbox has any exclusives anyway.

You can get prebuilts/OEM built PCs for just about MSRP on the parts. They get priority over end users when it comes to parts.
those normally come with significant building flaws that tend to be an absolute dealbreaker to people who don't know much about hardware, like almost always coming with single channel ram, or having way underpowered cpu cooling and terrible airflow. making every part perform significantly worse than they should

That is true for OEMs like Dell etc... but you have the choice to buy from someone who actually knows what they're doing, they might charge a 10% fee or something for building it, but it's usually a flat rate, meaning if you build something for $2000 (as an example) the fee ends up being far less than that. But that's a lot of money to spend on a PC (although it's worth it IMO)

except the majority of the target audience of a console isn't going to bother going to specialist pc building companies and they're just going to go for some cheap acer or dell system

True. I think HP Omen uses standard parts. Dell often don't and I don't know about Acer. I guess what it comes down to for the average customer is whatever is available where they like to shop. Some retail and online stores have their own custom prebuilts (to varying degrees of quality) many just sell whatever the big OEMs put out.

1) DualSense completely annihilates the XB controller.
2) I personally prefer PS Now over Game Pass by a long shot.
3) RetroArch vs VR? You play old school roms on just about any other device out there. VR for the major win.
4) PS Plus vs XBL. There really isn't a whole lot of difference. Tie.
5) Backwards compatibility. XB wins here for obvious reasons.
6) PS5 exclusives as you stated. Halo can be played on a PC & even then still kinda sucks.

If you aren't buying or upgrading a PC, just buy a PS5. Imo XB consoles are a waste of $ when people could invest those funds into a PC.
