Hacking Why can't 2 disc games be installed normally?

For example with GTA 5, why can't I just run game 1 and have the installer install the game normally? I've been doing the copy paste method. If I own the oblivion collectors edition can't I just install the first disc just by playing the disc and going through the process that way?

it depends on if it's like a game of the year edition or something. if it is, one of the discs is content (the one you install), so you can use exiso to get a jtag rip, then copy and paste the content folder into the correct location. it will have the title id folder and everything by default. about 95% of games like this have a content folder that can just be copied and pasted, without install.

That's what I have been doing, but why not just run the disc and install the game as usual?

no, there's a content folder. there's a content folder on the internal hdd as well. that's where the content goes.

Let me rephrase. On a non modded console you insert disc 1 to install the content folder onto the internal HDD, so why is this any different on RGH? In other words, why are we told to copy and paste the content folder when unmodded consoles just install the content folder by inserting the installation disc(disc 1)?
