The reason i like sonic, the attitude, he thinks like ricky bobby, if you aint first, your last, and he doesnt care what gets in his way. also IMO All the sonic games have had much better soundtracks than the mario games, i love sonic soundtracks.

ON TOPIC: A Sonic game hasn't made me wet since the first Sonic Adventure on the Dreamcast and to be honest, most of that was the thrill of playing a new generation console. (I got a Dreamcast and SA on release day back in 1999). All the new Sonics I've played since then have just seemed shallow and dull.

The reason I created this topic is to see how my fandom for this hedgehog is still strong, other tempers felt the same way a few times themselves whether its from Mario, Samus, StarFox, KingdomHearts, TWEWY, Halo, MetalGear, and a few others. We seem to cherish them due to the popularity it have on us which can be a sentimental phase.

To Depravo: Its funny how you type that since the glory days of Dreamcast revamp Sonic's image to the fandom of old and new. Sonic Adventure 2 was just putting a spin and new characters joining the old gang. When it came to Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox360 it questions to wonder how many new characters do we REALLY need in order to keep the franchise fresh and vibrant? That's when you look at the fans, they are divided from different Sonic games which capture their interest then when it clashes when another Sonic game that opposes their joy, they start uproaring about 'What a Sonic game should be about!'

Look at Nintendo who barely has any permanent new characters joining the fray (Although Wario, Daisy, and Waluigi join inside the other games like sports and party games) Mario, Luigi, Bowser, and Peach has always been the centerpiece for each major Mario game despite the stale plot of rescuing the princess once more. This what keeps Nintendo as a classic gamer, they don't change nor add anything else. They input an unique gameplay style with a hint of creativity and nostalgia. SEGA till this day don't know how to make their mascot capture the fans of old and new which can put them not over the top but claim their once gaming fame that have been put on hold ever since Sonic Heroes (I don't know how long that was).

To NarutoFreak: You need to post a FULL explanation of why he's the best and not just post lvling!

I really didn't grow up on Sonic games

I didn't even get one till like I got a GBA and played Sonic games on that

So there is little nostalgia for the games since I grew up playing Nintendo products. I guess the only reason I like playing Sonic games now is because I never got to play them when I was a kid.

I really liked the first and the second one. Didn't play any of the others when they we're released. I thought Sonic Rush was okay. Hopefully Sonic Colours will be worth playing, even though I find it annoying that they're still using that slim and freaky design.

i grew up with both the SNES and Genesis, one with SMB All-stars + Worlds and one with S123&K
so yeah, i don't know why i love sonic more than mario (not by much) although i know mario wins over him.

so yeah, maybe it is the nostalgia but I just don't get the Sonic Hating around. the only hate Sonic deserves is for the crappy shit on the ps3 and 360 on 06. The other games that people say sucks are just average games that doesn't live up to that of the original 3 (counting &Knuckles).

the 3D entries are good, even heroes was a great entry. Unleashed didn't come close to the Awesomeness of the original 3, it did something else, it made something new and that is the new Sonic (too bad the werehog got in the way) what i mean by that is that it was fun, but a different kind of fun i had with Sonic 123&K. so i'm hoping for colors to do just that

Sonic only sucked once at 2006 (although labyrinth was just as abysmal) and the other ones that people said sucked were average games that didn't live up to the original trilogy+&knuckles

I never liked the sonic games.
Grew up with an NES and SNES. Had sonic. Didn't, and still don't, like it.

It's just boring and easy. Christ, I could play it well at 5 years old.

The only two sonic games I can say I like is Sonic Heroes and Sonic Riders 1 (the second was casualized and ruined for the Wii)

I wouldn't say I'm a Sonic fan, but I do like the two Sonic Adventure games. Played them when I was a lot younger, so it is a blast of memories.. If only I had it still.

Use to love Sonic but since SAB2, I gained a new favorite character and I'm sure you all can tell just from my profile picture. Then Sega ruined his game "Shadow The Hedgehog"... The game was so bad it's not even funny.

Well, Sonic games went downhill right after SAB2 in my opinion and I'm sure that's where it's gonna stay for a while until Sega finally know's what they're doing. So in short, I use to be a Sonic fan then I grew to Shadow and Sega fked up his game and made him look like an idiot after that lol. "Who am I? Where am I? How do you know my name?"

While I acknowledge that most of the latest Sonic games have completely sucked monkey anus, most notably Sonic 2006 which made me want to kill everything within a 50 mile radius, I think Sonic still has a few more games left in him. His portable outings have impressed since the GBA, even most of the Game Gear games were decent enough. So long as the games are kept simple and preferably 2D, they can work. Sega need to realise that they don't need all these retarded gimmicks to get Sonic off the shelves. The people interested in Sonic are mostly the die hard fans like me who will always check out the latest game and hope that it recaptures the absolute glory of his 2D roots on the Mega Drive. Sonic Colours is looking pretty good from what I've seen thus far. Whereas Sonic 4 looks OK but...there's something odd about it that I can't quite put my finger on.

And yes, I am a die hard fan. I own the DVD box set of all 65 episodes of Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Watched it all the time as a kid. Got the box set off eBay for 20 quid. Might pick up the Sonic SatAM box set when I get paid. I also own most of the games in some form.

I still like sonic because even in his more recent outings, he has been all about fast-paced action at the press of a button. No worries, no combos, no actually serious story to care about, just fun.

Its a real nice break from the shit life loves to leave on your doorstep.
