i want to get my sister an AceKard for her 11th Birthday at the end of march. which kind should i get her?

You want an Acekard 2. Acekard 2i is a possibility, but you only need that if you have an DSi, and there's no guarantee that it will work on the USA version, or on any version after a firmware update. If your sister has a DS or DS Lite and nobody has plans to get her a DSi any time soon, the Acekard 2 is definitely what you're after.

My vote goes for Acekard 2i, simply because they shipped it faster than other products I've ordered from Deal Extreme. Shipping is like...free? Plus, get a few (like 3 SEPERATELY ordered for fast shipping) so you'll almost be assured to receive a working one. Not to mention you can keep one to your own pleasure afterwards if they all work!

Not gonna force you to make a choice, but there are only 2 AceKards out there.

The AceKard 2.1 and AceKard 2i.

There are three main differences between the two.

AceKard 2.1 is:
- Cheaper
- Compatible with DS Phat and DS Lite

AceKard 2i is:
- More Expensive then AceKard 2.1
- Compatible with DS Phat, DS Lite and DSi
- Has a random chip on the front under the sticker (from what I remember. Not too sure though...)

based on what i've heard 1st hand about the ak2i i would stick with the ak2.1 unless she has a dsi. the 2i seems to fail in many regards.
