As for myself I did use wininkokos firmware updater 4.0 read all the instructions installed cioscorp first then ios36 rev 8 .Updated installed startpatch and everything is fine. I did make sure there were 300 plus blocks free. For myself everything is great backup run great sd channel games run fine .But I was on 3.4 to start.

I am on 3.3.U, with HBC, WAD Manager 1.3 and IOS 38, 53 & 55 installed.
I cannot get iospatcher60 or FWupdater 4.0 to work, both return an error.

a) IOS60 patcher returns an htp error for some tmp file (my internet connection works fine)
b} fwupdater4.0 returns a "ret = -1" error on ios37

I followed 2 guides, which have reversed steps (one says to run the ios60 patcher before using fwupdate4.0, the other one has these steps reversed).
For reference: 1 - yafaze, 2- wehackwii
Says to have "cIOS36 rev.8"installed prior to starting --> I installed "cIOS36 rev.9" just fine, figured rev9 does not make a difference.

Seeing these errors, I decided to manually install:
IOS37-64-v2070.wad (since it seemed to error on it) --> install OK
cIOS249r7 --> install OK
IOS16 --> install OK

Now I still get the same errors (a & b above), it look slike I am probably missing some cios wads or something like that ... which are not described in the guides.
What do you guys think?

I have almost everything, Preloader, USB loader, Cioscorp thru Disk menu (with cios60bf, and changing the sys menu ios to 36) SD vc and wii ware loading... this really rocks, I just got my Wii on the 26th, got it home and was about to update when i said 'what the hell, I think I read that you can run Linux' so i started soft modding and now my Wii is awesome

which guide did you use? And are you running legit vc and ww games off of the sd menu or pirated ones?

I used This guide, then installed Preloader when it came out, then I was looking at a post about Waninkoko's Firmware Updater 4.0 and someone said that there was a hack to use Cioscorp v2 with a cios60bf.wad. so I installed that and got an error on restart, so I read somewhere else that you can use Preloader to change which ios is loaded and changed it to 36, so now I can run cioscorp for backups running from the disc channel, preloader stops discs from asking to update, i have most games copied to the USB loader, I can put legit AND pirate VC & WW on SD. just waiting for a better hacks.ini...

I have hard modchip. I installed and patched IOS60 before using waninkoko updater. So far so good. I can run wiiware in SD card. Finally I installed preload 0.29 but I didn't know to put hack.ini into the root. Then I got "system files corrupted". After put hack.ini into the root and reinstalled preload 0.29, it works fine.
I think it doesn't matter if you patch IOS60 before or after 4.0 update. If wiiware cannot run in SD, then patch IOS60 again.

same question as dodol?

and another little question. will the shop channel work after this or is it running from the ios 61 ?

I got that erron on example A. If that's what you got, just reset your internet and should work fine. As for example B, just reinstall everything, maybe even downgrade to 3.2 firmware. I know I updated from 3.2u with Wanin's updater and patched IOS60, and am able to run everything the same as 3.2u on 4.0u.

My only problem that had followed me from 3.2u to 4.0u was that the Backup Launcher Gamma kept giving me a DSI Error or something like that when using the Rebooter feature.

I want to get a confirmation on this, if I install CIosCorp on my 4.0u Wii with Preloader v0.29 setting the IOS to IOS30, will it brick my Wii?

Thansk Esteban and everyone else. I am still not sure why but my issue was indeed the internet conenction.
I had to use my neighbor's wireless access (hehe) to be able to run the fwupdater. No error -1 after that.
The rest is the usual steps, ios60 patcher and here I am, all pacthed up to 4.0, running wads from my SD.
Gret stuff!

Again, appreciated everyone's suggestions.
Take care.
