PS1/2 Where was the PocketStation manufactured?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering if anyone knows where the Japanese exclusive PS1 accessory 'PocketStation' was manufactured?

As I'm looking at buying one, but was told to be careful of replicas (on ebay some are made in Japan, while some are manufactured in the Philippines). So are both legit manufacturing locations?
