So after selling my first Wii, going to E3, and watching Nintendo's conference, its time I picked up another one (thank goodness I still have my games). The thing is, since then, the homebrew scene has exploded, and that once seemingly useless homebrew channel sitting on my Wii, is the must have channel on the Wii. I've been reading up on wii hacking, bannerbomb, LU64+ wiis, etc. and my question for all of you is:

Where would be the best place to buy a Wii, in hopes of getting an older model?

I'm buying solely online, and I'm not paying more than $250 (including shipping), so please don't suggest craigslist or eBay, websites I've had both good and bad experiences with.

PS: Are there any Wii's that are purely unsoftmoddable (that's a word, right?

) and more specifically, cannot run apps from the homebrew channel? Or is there a tutorial for every Wii created?

Thanks, for your help,

Every kind of Wii can be hacked now, so no matter what you buy you'll have most functionality. LU64's can't be downgraded and all that, but it's not a problem anymore. The biggest reason you'd want an early model is to be able to install BootMii to boot2, but there's no real way to tell only by the serial number if boot1 is vulnerable. The only known rule is the earlier it was purchased, the better.

Thanks for the quick answer, I kinda wanted that smexy bootmii bootup, and its NAND backup, but I guess as long as I'm not too careless, I'll be fine without it. Let's hope for an older one anyways, though!

Seriously, you shouldn't have an issue. I had no idea how to do anything with a Wii 5 days ago. I have a brand new Wii (Lu65, to be exact) and it took me two days of searching this forum to take it from virgin to Homebrew channel/ISO loader. It's simple. A little searching is all that you need to do and you can do anything! Good luck.

Thanks, and welcome to the forums! I feel honored to have an Admiral Knight post his first comment in my thread

. It looks like I'll be going with Amazon tomorrow.
