I have the Triple Boot installed and use iTouch firmware when I want to run homebrew.....easy!

Unless you're on your deathbed, fretting about when any software is released will get you nowhere.

Use M3DS real and the original firmware - homebrew here is EXCELLENT and soft reset 4 games is there too!
