Let´s discuss examples and whether you like or dislike the changes:
Example:
Orcs in the Warcraft series. Ruthless beasts in Warcraft 1 and 2. Romanticized since Warcraft 3. I do not like the change. They even came up with the excuse that the Orcs were under some kind of spell (and changed their color to red).
Other examples I could think of are Sagat (Street Fighter IV and V) and Samus (Other M).
