What's the best way to mod a D2C Wii without soldering experience?

Do not even TRY to do it yourself with little to no experience.

I did it after I bought a decent soldering station and all. The installation went with some difficulties, but I ended up finishing it, just to find out I accidentally broke a mechanical piece of the drive...(not soldering related)

You still have to be able to solder though. Granted it is much easier than the usual soldering required for modding your Wii but some experience would probably help before you undertook that task if you are not confident in your abilities.

Pay someone to do it. You probably won't be able to do a Wii-Clip install with no experience.

You can buy a pre-modded drive (not the whole Wii), but it's much more expensive than buying just the chip because you're paying for the drive, the chip, and the work.
Since there's no one that lives around here that does soldering, I bought a D2C Drive pre-modded with D2pro and a Triwing screwdriver. (The same site also sells drives with Wasabi and Argon chips.) I installed it in my Wii and it works fine. Requires no soldering. You just have to remember where the screws go and how to plug it all back in.

Another option is buying a whole new pre-modded Wii, but that's much more expensive.

What did you do with your old DVD drive, just keeping it on hand? What chipset is your old drive D2C as well?

However the option you choose you'll have to open your wii.
Btw James Kudo you live in States and there are a lots of professionals able to do it for you. Or purchase a premoded drive like Samutz did.

There are a lots of possibilyties

Old one was a D2B drive with a Wiikey (bought the whole Wii pre-modded last year). I've got it sitting on my desk in the packaging the new drive came in. I'll either give it to friend that wants it, or see if I can sell it in the trading forum.

I live in Michigan, is there anywhere near me I ship it to and have them mod it for a decent price?

BTW, if I get a Wiiclip, what's a good modchip to accompany it? The Wasabi?

I thought D2Ckey sucked because it had no onboard flash memory

It appears there's a Wiiclip for Argon and there's one coming out for the Wasabi.

Should I wait for the Wasabi or get an Argon?

Well the clip is out for the Argon

But a newer Argon is out, the 1.7

Will the wii-clip that was made for the 1.6 version setup still work on that newer version

Because of the different wires needed or is it still the same setup.

If I had the D2C Motherboard (Checked from the web for the serial number), can I opt for Wiikey chipset? Or must go for D2C / D2 Pro chip with Wii Clip?
