Hello.
I'm not exactly new to modding
yaywii.gif
, and I've been doing some research.
I will be getting a used PSP from our local game shop.

Apparently if I get a PSP 1000 or 2000 I can use a modded pandora battery, which sounds like the best way to me. Also I'm not positive of the exact diffences between 1000 and 2000, aside from one being Phat and one being Slim, respectively.
If I get a 3000 (Which I only consider because the screen is supposed to be better), I can't use the pandora battery method, but there is a temporary mod with ChickHEN. (The idea of a temporary mod sounds incredibly annoying to me).
I'm thinking I'll probably go with the PSP-2000, but I'm uncertain.
So anyway, what do you think I should get?

You don't need a Pandora battery for like any model provided it's under 5.03 official firmware. Otherwise the Pandora is just an unbricking tool.

1000 models are 100% moddable, but don't have as much RAM or something as others.

2000 models are either fully moddable or temporarily moddable, depends on the build. Has RAM and stuff.

3000 models are temporarily moddable.

I'd go with a 1000, it's what I bought. It's fully moddable and works fine.

Does 2000 have a backlit screen like DS-lite or a screen where the light shines on it like DS-phat?

2000 hack it, clock god of war and crisis core, sell it

You sir are funny. Why play PSP for 2 games that werent even all that great? I mean really, there are far more games than that and there are ones that are far more worth you time.

Now, as you asked OP I'd suggest a 2000. While a have a 1000 myself a few friends of mine have 2000s and they have had nothing but good luck.

2000 for sure. Easiest to hack and I like the feel of it the most out of every modal.

The 1000 is too bulky.
The 3000 feels too light and cheap.
The GO just feels awkward.

Right. I'm aware of this, I'm going to try and get an older 2000.

I like my 1000. I have too many animals and younger siblings in my house. I need sturdier built game systems. I still have my DS Phat. Besides, the 1000 is reliably hackable and really doesn't suffer anything against other PSPs other than an extra half second or two on loading times.

Oh wait, people put so much fricking stock in "load times" these days. Psh. I hate new gen gamers sometimes. No appreciation for what games can do now. So ungrateful and impatient.

^ I know! I was just rambling about that a few days ago! I saw a Gamespot review complaining about a ONE SECOND LOAD TIME. I dunno if it's just me but I got used to load times thanks to the PS1 era so loadtimes are nothing to me.

/derail. Sorry. I finally saw someone who agrees with me. XD;;;

Anyway, getting back on topic: Don't get too put off by the temporary mod. Just don't turn off your PSP and you'll be fine. I put mine in sleep mode instead of turning it off and it's perfectly fine. I say go with the 2000.

I think it's lighter and you have a wider selection of colors if you want an option like that.

Thank you.
And I've decided I will go with the 2000.
My only concern is that I will get one that's unhackable, but I'm gonna try to get the oldest 2000 I can find.
Thank you all for your input.

I love my 1000 and the only problem I have with it is its lack of HDTV output (2000s have this).

You can use remotejoylite to play your psp on your computer monitor, but it would be nice to play it on my HDTV also.

But...the pixelization....AAAAHHHH *explodes*

NES games don't pixelize at all really and PSP games don't really Pixelize either. When its scaled up it seems to gain Pixels and Detail, why? Because when you plug the 2000 into another TV or something it treats it as a different Screen, so when character models and such are scaled up they don't really Pixelize, they just get a bit more blocky, still looks good though.
