Hardware What firmware will new 3ds be storebought?

If I buy a N3DSXL from the store in north america, what FW does it come with? Does anyone know, and is there a guarantee? I wanted to know if gateway card would work on a new store bought N3DSXL. What is the highest version that gateway works with?

You need 9.2 or below for any kind of 3ds hacks.

I would say they come with 9.4. It is almost sure it will come with FW over 9.2.
There are some guides on the forums regarding serial number to look for if you want to find one of the remaining systems with FW <= 9.2.
GW works up to FW9.2.

Try large chains like Walmart and Target and simply ask to see the serials before buying it. Thanks, I think im just gonna go by the fact that I will be forced to use sky3ds. Anyhow, is the better screens thing true? haha just wondering.

Yes. Very true. Some use IPS LCD and others use TN LCD.
And IPS is way better than TN.

Other than with your eyes, I don't know.
Probably serial number?
TN change color a lot when you look at it from a weird angle (the old 3DS does it, and the DS lite does it a lot)
IPS doesn't change so much.

When you tilt the screen sideways and it looks white with a blurred screen its TN if you tilt or look from far away and you still have a solid crisp screen with no blurring it IPS.

The IPS screens also handle crushed blacks better and are more vibrant in sunlight.

No unless you boot it up and tilt and walk away while starring at the screen. If you need a 9.0 console badly and dont want too seach yourself (and I hate plugging them so much as it looks like advertising) peachds is allegedly selling 9.0 black units here for 189 http://www.peachds.com/?product=/new-nintendo-3ds-xl-version-9-0/ they ship from cali and can do Canada easy since they use USPS but no one has bought a console from them just flashcards so far.

If you are lucky you can ask the retailer to check the serial numbers they have in stock.
