I'm getting a star wars battlefront unopened bundle tomorrow.
I'm actually not sure what firmware comes stock on that model but I trust the folks at wooloo got it right.

Actually I'm not even sure if it's over 4.05 but under 4.55 or under them both.
But my buddy got one yesterday on 3.4something and we're both not too sure which firmware is better to be on?
I've read some threads that say 4.55 is the place to be.
While others still that say it's less stable.

Also is there a recommended step by step guide for said fw?

Any tips much appreciated, thanks!

4.55 is the latest publicly hackable firmware iirc. Although the 5.0x kexploit was patched so its not unlikely that we will see a release for those firmwares soon enough.

Also to answer your questions. There are some game mods and such not ported to 4.55 that you may want to remain on 4.05 for (if that sort of thing matters to you.) As for stability ive heard its more or less the same success rate on 4.05 and 4.55 for the exploit so it shouldnt matter there. Being on the newer firmware of 4.55 does allow you to use games requiring 4.55 and below whereas on 4.05 anything requiring a newer firm is unplayable so it would at least give you a bigger library of compatible games to choose from. I would personally recomend you use 4.55 unless you have specific reasons you would rather be on 4.05.

As for a guide none that im aware of.... the jailbreak process is pretty straight forward though. If you wish to host the exploit locally there are a few tools available for this but this isnt needed as the exploits are all hosted on a few different sources. I cant be bothered to find them right now but im sure there are some threads on this forrum regarding that info. Either way once the exploit is hosted you simply browse to that page and let it do its work. Once done you are jailbroken. The jailbreak is only temporary however so you will have to repeat the hack each time you reboot. Beyond that you can install fakesigned brew and game packages and use them. I dont have much detail or a guide for this but again im pretty sure there are threads here explaining the proccess of creating a playable backup of a game in pkg format for install. (Fake signed packages will only work while jailbroken so if you reboot you will need to jailbreak again to play them)

Personally I think 4.55 is better due to the more stable rest mode. When running HEN on 4.05, my system would always lock up or shut down after waking from rest mode. Note: You don't have to rerun the exploit unless you do a full shutdown or restart, so this is a lot more convenient.
