Sherv, thanks man for noticing that a couple of guys here started taking this personaly

XXmadXX
in reply to your comment saying "i'm sure some people could hear you say something common for you but funny sounding for them" well i gave it a good think and no, i don't see one. There probably is but it's not as blatant as DO YOU! Anyways like Sherv said, i'm not insulting anybody here

and guys, even you who knew that phrase existed... admit it's kinda weird

I'll bet there is one as blatant as "do you", if not more so. The reason you can't think of one is most likely that you're use to all the phrases of your native toungue, and therefore, they don't stick out to you.

Also, there are many situations where "do you" isn't perverse in any manner at all, no matter how you think about it, unless you're really trying, such as "What do you do?"(For a living ect.), "Do you (something)?", or "How do you do?" Most of these expressions likely came beforen "do" became something perverse.
It's kind of stupid that it is, actually. I'll never really get why that stuck. It should have passed out with whatever fad brought it in.

That said and done, what can I do you for?

whoa no need for you all to get so worked up . i actually did not mean any malice with my post .
English being my second language i can think of quite a few phrases in my native language that sound weird to other people.i find it actually a bit surprising that your native language doesn't have any.
ohh and also in case you are not aware the "do you" is actually common enough by itself. go to anyplace in the u.s. that performs a service such as hair salon, tattoo parlor etc. and you will often hear " I'll do you next."
feel free to go back into emo mode if you wish but no malice was intended .
